my wife and I have raised and released squirrel about 10 years now unfortunately my job cause alot of the problem being a arborist, but i figure, I do my part. I know there alot of people in this business that will not take the time to even check a nest before removing a tree. great site

Bless you for being a squirrel-lovin' arborist, and :Welcome to the Squirrel Board!

One of the tree-trimmers on my island is very much a squirrel-lover too and always gives me the babies. I'm about to release triplets -- two black & one grey -- that he gave me as pinkies this summer. :D

Thank you for being squirrel friendly!
When I was raising my last rehab, I had to take her to work with me ( which is fine. I own the business). But one of our tree cutting customers told me that his business partner simply swings babies from the tail and smashes them on a rock.
Worse than throwing them in the chipper! I am sorry but how can a human do this? There is something wrong with people who do this. If they do this to animals then why coudnt they do it to a human baby or person? They need to be seen by a shrink and under lock and key!!!!

thank god for our local SPCA, some years I get so many. I try my best to check every nest but down here in south fl, they love to build it in palms and it not like the one you see in oaks or other hard woods, in the palms they blend in so well, but one thing I can say is a mother squirrel will do any thing to get a baby, that has fallen, back to the nest I've seen them carrying everything from pinkees to a 5 or 6 week old back up
