Fall is here and Talula shows NO signs of wanting to leave. She has never bitten me and drwn blood. She is not aggressive towards her nuts and even shares them with me. She loves to play and then curl up in my hands to be petted to sleep. She is well taken care of and is now 6 months old. She should have been showing some signs of wanting to be a squirrel. She is affraid of the outside and wants nothing to do with it yet. I kno she is young but her mentallity is that of a 2 month old. On the other hand there is no real hurry to release her due to her color and type. This is a concern for me even if it seems to be a small one. Talula reminds me of Rachel's Beans.

I don't think you CAN give singles too much love... they need comfort companionship and security... they need all that interaction. My Scrat is a bit older than Talula and she shows no signs of wanting out either... she does not like it outside... and does not even like sitting up in the window... she has never bitten us and loves being held and cuddled and massaged. I am sure she will at some time want to go, but some squirrels take longer... I think it was Kibbles that took about 2 years before she went out on her own?
Don't worry and just enjoy ever precious second with her.. You are a good squirrel dad and you will know when it is time :)

What do you mean by colour and type?

Eastern Greys are not welcome in California. They are not native here and the state issue a deal to kill on site with them. The second problem is her black color. This instantly gives her away. We only have Western Grey where I am and they are all grey. Also the people around here like to kill anything animal that looks odd. I do have a site that I released Jackie at. Very safe, no people. And the land is sacred Indian land so no state officals can touch her.

Just enjoy your time together. Everyone thinks you are very lucky.
What makes you think that Jacqueline is safe from the Indians?

UMMM, they don't squirrels anymore. The property is owned by my Father in law. There are no other people with in 5 miles. His house is down a long dirt road so there is no body there. The tribe they are from worship animals. Not sure if all tribes are like that but animals are treated with great care and respect.

Hey, if I was a squirrel I would rather live next to a first nations person than a redneck any day!
I was pretty much raised as a redneck, btw, so I know what I am talking about ;p

maybe, you are blessed with a pet squirrel and she will stay with you happily ever after?...:)
Honestly, if I had such a squirrel like your Talula, I'd be THRILLED to keep her if she agreed. Talula is so, so precious, so beautiful and has such a cute intelligent squirrelly face, with some spark in her eyes... I loved all the videos you posted, kept going back to them, but at one point they were unavailable and I was so disappointed. I especially liked the one where she was kind of hiding/in and out of large pillows or something like that?...
Don't know, but I LOVE Talula and WOULD LOVE to have a Talula choosing to be indoors.

Ohhh she's So adorable....she so dark, very pretty! Our little nugget is now about 7 months old and doesn't appear to want to leave which is good, cause he can't be released.
