I went back and forth about posting this in here but i feel i need people with experience. When I got up earlier one of the 3 squirrels was missing. two were sleeping in the couch and the one I cant find anywhere. My two boys were up , they are 11 and 12. They said that they had the sliding glass door to the screenroom open because it was a nice day out. I am worried because the screen has a little hole in it big enough for her to get out. They said they had the door blocked and that the one was on the porch the whole time so she couldnt get out. Also one took out the trash, although i have never seem them try to run out the door when it was open, they are pretty skiddish. Has anyone ever had one dissappear inside and not be able to find them for along time. Is there any trick to trying to get her out? If she did get out where would they likely go? Is there anywhere in particular I should be looking for her. She is about 10 weeks old. I'm devestated, any help would be greatly appreciated. Ive been awake since about 3:30(I work nights) and I havent seen her at all.

I hope you can find her .... my grey always naps thru the afternoon, so hopefully she is just curled up somewhere snoozing.

Scrat will come when I call her name... but sometimes I want to distract her so I crinkle paper or scratch on a rough surface (the wall or whatever) and she always comes to investigate the noise .. they like to get into nooks and crannies, and into trouble in general so I never have her out of the cage unsupervised.

Maybe if she won't come to see what a noise is....she will come looking for food soon.

Good luck!

Check all cabinets and leave closet doors open.

fridges, freezer, on top of cabnets...especially kitchen... drawers... inside and behind....

maybe let another one out ... and follow him/her to see if they can trace the other one....

closets... coats with hoods, inside the hood

... bags....

omg... the list goes on and on....

under beds... under quilts/pillows incase they want to burrow... behind the sofa cushions... under the sofa... behind the sofa....

i'm so sorry .... i'd be worried too....:grouphug

is there some kind of food that she adores and smells??? like roast peanuts.... (just this time :) ...) .... just to attract her... or leave some food out and see if anyone has been helping themselves during the night...

:grouphug

ps: they do like to go into fridges/freezers and i'm not ruling out ovens either ....:grouphug

At this point i really think she got out. If she survived the initial getting out i wonder if she would have the instinct to go in a tree. I dont know wjat she would do or where to look for her. I looked all over outside and no sign of her. I checked the road and she hasnt been hit. I am just so upset i dont know what to do. I just fed the other two and i walked around the house so she could hear the slurping noises if she was here. Thats about the only thing that's about the only thing they come running for. Its nighttime so there is not much i can do outside tonight, but i was hoping someone would give me advice on where to look tomorrow outside.

and you absolutely checked the fridge/freezer??? one of our member squirrels ...mugzi .... used to go into the fridge so often his mum had to put a harness with bells on him.....

at this point ... i hope she's safe and sound and will be there for you in the morning....

she might climb a tree or hide somewhere....:grouphug

if she comes running for slurping sounds... did you make them outside too???

Walnuts walnuts walnuts! Leroy got loose one time, so we put his favorite treat out in a few spots. Eventually we followed the crumbs to his hidding spot. he was hidding behind the speaker in the living room! How he got behind there I will never know!

I hope she comes back. Mine went up the tree a couple days ago. I tried seeing if he would adapt to to outside, but then got several calls from my neighbors that he was misbehaving and taunting the dogs. (He lives with 3 dogs, so his danger radar isn't as adept as most) I lured him over with a dish of his favorite food. She may be having a great time exploring, but her favorite munchies may not be readily available, so I would try offering it and scooping her up when she's eating. BTW- tree-climbing will be very instinctual and will come easy to her so long as her nails aren't trimmed. Check above you. Mine never left his comfort zone of about 200 yards.

10 weeks is still really young...so wherever she is she will start looking for mama, try walking around outside in the area she might have gotten out..go in the early morning while it is still quiet and softly call to her or make any of the special noises you make when feeding, and listen for her crying. If you have good neighbors ask them to be on the lookout for her...she will seek people looking for help. Have your kids be on the lookout too. I am so sorry you are going thru this :grouphug

:thankyou :thankyou :thankyou :grouphug Thanks for all your support and thank you for not yelling at me for putting this on the life threatning page. I was thinking if she got out it was definitely life or death.

SOOOO I found her !!!!!!!!!:jump :jump :jump :wahoo

I'm not sure where she was hiding I may never know. I let the other two go and they ran in the couch. They stayed there for several hours and then one came from the exercise machine, one came from my room and then I still had 2 for another hour. The I decided to shake my couch even though there were no sign of life in it. Low and behold the was a critter crawling on the inside of the arm of the couch, I syringe of fomula through the hole in the inside of the couch and she came right out. :osnap

So I still dont know who was missing...I may have to mark them after all. I never did because they had natural markings that made me be able to tell them apart but that changed when they grew long fur.mjs

:thankyou :thankyou :thankyou again !!!!!!!!!!

Whew!!! Soooo glad you found your missing baby!!!

Marking would be a really good idea, just for keeping notes on each one. House squirrels need really close supervision, there is so much that can be dangerous, wires, old moldy food lying in corners, other pets etc etc etc. I watch Scrat closely and STILL have had to replace a couple hundred dollars in chewed up electronics :shakehead

I can't imagine having 3... you are a saint
