I have a baby that is about 8-10 weeks old (not sure), and she's been doing well up until today. She's on Fox Valley 3 times a day and I've given her various veggies and fruits-grapes, apple, avocado, romaine, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, and a bit of rodent block. Yesterday I tried to give her some science diet puppy chow but she wouldn't eat it. Today when I went to give her her first formula feeding, she only had about 5 cc's (usually she has 10-12), and then wouldn't eat anymore. She just crawled back in her nest box and burrowed. This is VERY unusual, she is normally running and jumping around on me and has a very good appetite. I removed her water bottle from where it usually was and brought it to her so she could drink and she drank a lot. I couldn't tell how many cc's but she was lapping at it for almost a minute.

She's still lethargic and I don't know what to do. She seemed to nibble at a bit of avocado (her favorite) but then walked away from it to curl up in her box. I'm really worried about her, please help!

There's a chance she may have ingested avocado skin. I posted this in non-life threatening too but I'm still not getting many responses...please help!

Avocato skin contains persin, a fatty acid.
In small amounts, diarrea, vomiting, respiratory distress and congestion may result.
If she ate it very recently, you might try activated charcoal to absorb as much toxin as possible.

One other thing. Avocato is very high in potassium.
This may hinder calcium absorbtion. Feed it sparingly.

Emily,

You need to keep up with the formula, no more fruits or veggies or avocado right now. Just formula, watch her for 24 hours. Her tummy might just be upset... like when we get upset stomachs, we don't want to eat anything.

I'll PM you my number, I'm in west Houston. If anything comes up, please please please don't hesitate to call me.

I want to say not to worry about avacodo skin...but won't.
we have trees bigger than mountains here and the sqs eat them all day long...no one removes the peels, no dead sqs.
I feed avacodos often...
I do remove the peel for babies, not adults. I do it so no one chokes.
I have been bashed before for defending avacodos , so I will stay out of this.
I would hope she is just having one of the quieter low key days.
To be safe, plenty of fluids if her tummy feels mushy, not hard.
I hope she feels better soon. She is truly adorable.:Love_Icon

If you really think something is wrong...keep seeking why...I really doubt it's avacodo.

Could she just be weaning and just doesn't want the formula? I mean, my guys are almost that age, and are starting to want formula less and they do sleep off and on all day long. Not trying to downplay this, just offering another opinion. Does she feel cold to the touch? Is she pottying normally?
