I have 2 pinkies, I raised Pearly and released but she was fully furred when I got her. I preorded foxvalley back in may just in case something like this ever came up again. have 1 cc syringes and nipples. they are on heating pad (low) right now. seem to be ok, except for a scratch or 2.one seems to have some small bruising on side of head. any advice would be appreciated. I am waiting to hear back from someone before trying to feed them. thanks in advance

Just make sure they are completely warmed (on low of course before feeding). If they are still pink and no fur...this is only a guess, but I would say 20-25 grams, so you would feed approximately 1 cc per feeding.....every 2-3 hours depending on how well they eat...real slow You could do one feeding of pedialyte and then go to the formula...perhaps 1 to 2 1/2 ratio to start.
The scratches concern me, do you have antibiotics? I am thinking perhaps cat scratch?...But then again, if it were a cat, most likely more than scratches...just wonder if it should be given as a precaution....:thinking

I have neosporin but they may suck it off one another. they are not deep scratches..only surface.
they are not dehydrated thank God. and must have just fed with mom right before the tree came down. she took off with one of the babies , tried to put them back in nest on the remaining stump and stayed back and watched untl dark. saw her up in another tree but she didnt' come for them. iiI don't know what she did with her other baby. I knew I couldnt' leave then all night it's like 58 degrees here, and they are pinkies. was thinking of going back in the morning with them and trying to put them on the stump again and see if she comes back for them. won't be able to have a heating pad for them there though so not sure if thats a good idea. I have tried to give them fluids and they are not sucking..but I do hear them sucking on the tshirt thats on the heating pad. I am so scared of aspriating them!

I hear you about aspirating them...and that is good that you are scared and aware, but they do need feeding tonight. Can you try putting a little on the tip of the syringe, you know fill the syringe with the formula and then just dip the tip in the formula again so they get a taste, then perhaps they will take it, as long as you go slow, you will be fine...and feed in an upright position, do not hold like a baby...
If you are going to try to reunite tomorrow, perhaps you can make a rice buddy for them...do you plan on staying close by. Them being taken by a hawk is a concern for me...they come out of nowhere....:shakehead

oh yes, I wouldn't leave them alone without watching. I have to keep a distance I know, but my eyes will not leave them or the sky or surrounding area. I have tried to dribble a bit on their mouths, maybe they just arent hungry yet. but it's been a few hours. I will keep trying, hard to keep the milk warm with just a drop at a time. not even sure she would take them, though I thought if I got there at day break them screaming for her would get her to come.

You would hope that them screaming would attract her...BUT remember it may also attract other things...:dono
Just relax with them...hopefully mama will come and get them tomorrow...fingers crossed...:grouphug :grouphug

the babies are doing good today, ate almost a whole cc each just now! what a night!! ~yawn yawn yawn. I could'nt sleep for fear of not hearing them if they screamed. so I stayed vigil over them most of the night, fed them again at 5 am, then 7:30 then started at 10 haha took me until about 30 mins ago to finish. I am trying to go ever so slow! did not go back out to finding site it was so cold, and just couldn't bare to put them out onthat stump by themselves. pm'd virgo last night remembering she is in rossville. I think the little boogers and I found our mojo finally tday with this last feeding. they started sucking and I figured out how to gently squeeze the nipple at the top instead of pushing the plunger in. worked really well .
if I screwed up somehow and mlk went in their lungs would the clicking start immediately? that is my biggest fear.

You would have seen it. Sputtering, milk coming out of the nose, etc. I get where you are coming from - I have never done a pinky squirrel but I am feeding a baby mouse right now about the size of a nickel - I can hardly SEE the little thing and I am taking forever to feed it!

This is a wonderful update...I will still put those other nipples in the mail though, just in case you may want to try something else. You are the best! As Crittermom said, you will see if come out of their nose, so all seems well. You are doing wonderful...now get some sleep!!!!!!:Love_Icon

oh crittermom, i feel for you! I can't hardly see these little ones mouths, their noses are so close to their mouths which makes it that much more scarey. How in the world do you see a tiny little mouses mouth?! you are brave! once I had my sons hamster get out of the cage and she left 10 little pink babies..at the time I was 20ish yrs old and had no clue I tried wetting a paper towel with regular milk and they sucked on it, but that was all wrong and I lost them all, sadly the mistakes of our youth! the biggest one is thinking we know it all, or just not looking for help. I wish you lots of luck with your little tiny mousie.
Nancy, thank you thank you! you have been so helpful! I am fixing to take a nap while they are in between feedings haha must have been reading my mind!

Do you have a Vet? if you aspirate them they will need medication immediately....Sounds like you are doing a good job but if you need us we are not far :)
