I am looking to order some but was wondering what kind of shelf life it has. I only have 1 lil one and she is 6 weeks old. I don't want to over order and have wasted block. Is there a good way to keep it fresh? Should I put it in the freezer? How long does 5lbs usually last? Many :thankyou 's for reading!

5 pounds last for months. The bags usually arrive with a date that is 6 or 8 months in the future. And I keep almost everything in the freezer, including this - currently my freezer has a bag and a half of FV, 5 pounds of Harlan Teklad and probably 20 pounds of frozen acorns. Oh yeah, and a bottle of vodka. Don't tell ME I'm not the hostess with the mostest (after a bit of the vodka, the acorns aren't half bad)!
