View Full Version : lights
What is the best type of light to purchase? I thought I read on here somewhere (but cannot find it now) that plant growth lights would work-along the lines of something that can be picked up Lowe's or Home Depot. I know I need to get one asap but want to make sure I'm purchasing the right one.
Thanks!

Full spectrum reptile lights are the ONLY easily available lights that have both the UVA and UVB - you will not find them at Lowes.
Here is a place that has them very reasonably: http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-fluorescent-bulbs/11442-504983/zoo-med-reptisun-10-0-uvb-bulb.html
They sell them at Petco but for about twice the price!
You can buy a four foot fluorescent shop light in the T-8 size at Lowes for about $15 and it plugs into an outlet. You can buy one 4' Reptisun 10.0 bulb and one daylight bulb at Lowes.
They sell the Reptisuns as compact fluorescents, too, but they are incredibly bright and I have heard the "spot" brightness is not good for their eyes...
