My neighbor found a baby bunny alone.
Someone had accidently stepped on its foot and it has a leg injury. Its not eating and they were told it aprox 1 month old. They were also told to let it go in the wild but i dissagree.
Im in East Meadow, NY
(Nassau County, Long Island)
Please help! Brian

Can you get the bunny to a rehabber (so they can bring it to a vet re: the leg)? Bunnies can die of stress (esp. when alone). What is it being fed?

My neighbor is caring for the bunny now.
I belive it ate a small amount of lettuce.
I will attempt to find a rehaber in NY on Mon morning.

Definitely don't put her down... Try this list. I know there are many people on this board in NYC. I hope someone will be on to direct you to resources or help you, soon.

Above is a list of rehabbers by state. Perhaps that will help. Maybe give the little one at least a carrot in the meantime?

Lettuce is trash.
Get some broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts, anything else.
Even granola with nuts and dried fruits is better. Lettuce is terrible for them.
Fresh fruits and veggies (NOT lettuce or celery).
I can't help much here, but this, I'm certain of.

Put her on a heating pad, under half her cage/enclosure. For food, try to pull some clover, dandelion leaves, that willd lettuce (make sure it is not near the road and not been sprayed) otherwise, you can give her spring mix that you can find in the salad dept. of your grocery store. I would stick with simple greens (no spinach, it has oxolates--I know I spelled that wrong--which inhibits calcium uptake). Depending on the injury, she would most likely need some metacam for pain (but you have to make sure she is not dehydrated, speaking of which, get some pedialyte, via 1 cc syringe into her, as she most likely is dehydrated.) Keep her enclosure, as bunnies frighten very easily and can die from fear. If you can get her to a rehabber, that would be best, as she should be checked by a vet. Wish I were closer. Good luck!

Nutty, you live in long island? Anyway you could bring this bunnie over the ferry to CT? I could meet you in B-port. This option being if you cant find anyone closer who wont put it down.

Thanks for all the advice! I gave the number of a local rehabber in my area to my neighbor. As of today the bunny is eating shreaded carrots. I told her about the spring mix and pedialyte via 1cc syringe. The bunny is doing well!
