How to tell if its a Squirrel or Rat?

Please help!! I found these in the attic of my fathers house today (no evidence of rats in house at all) Not sure what they are. I was told they were Squirrels and someone else said they were Rats? How can I tell what they are? They seem to have long legs and they hop and move around a lot and they also put their front paws to their mouth and try to hold the syringe while I am feeding them. I hope someone can tell by the pictures. Thanks :)

rats too small and furred to be squirrlies. If a squirrel had that much fur on it's body it's tail would have more fur

Definitely not squirrels. I would say rats as well. They sure are cute. And they make the best little pets (family members). :D

Congratulations! I'd keep an eye out for momma. If she's around she will be missing her babies something terrible.

If you end up caring for these little ones write/Pivate Message to Scoobysnack. i believe ratties are lactose intolerant so you may need a special formula.
