I just moved in to a townhouse in the DC area. The people who lived here before me must have been very friendly with this squirrel because he comes right up to the door each morning and today took a peanut right out of my hand. Someone told me peanuts were not appropriate so I came here looking for nutrition advice.

Check the diet/nutrition portion of this board - I'm sure you'll find something he likes. Like all things, moderation is the key.

Almonds and hazelnuts are the least expensive, most nutritional nut you can give your new friend. I buy from www.anuts.com and they have very good prices.

My wilds also like apple - I chop it up and put it out on the deck and everyone eats it. Not first - the nuts go first, but the apple does get eaten. How nice that you are willing to continue feeding him!
