Is she using a nipple on the end of the syringe? If not the hard tip can damage the babies mouth.

don't worry he's just biting the syringe, sometimes they do that!

Teeth cutting in,perhaps? If you are using a plastic syringe it could be rubbing the top of your little ones mouth...causing the light colored blood. I wouldnt be too concerned, but check in mouth for teeth cutting in, gums, and top of mouth for scratching.

I have seen this too, when feeding babies, and it's either irritation from the end of the nipple or teeth cutting -- nothing to worry about. But, if she sees it more than once or twice, or if it looks darker and gets worse, the baby needs to be seen by a vet.

That's from teething. When they are cutting teeth it's not unusual if they bleed a little. I just about FREAKED OUT the first time it happened to me! :D I have been volunteering with baby squirrels for years and raising them too and it has only happened to me a few times that I saw the blood.
:Welcome So glad it is not something serious. My boys never did that and I would probably have freaked out like your mom. Is better to be safe then sorry so it is a good thing you posted and got some assistance. Would sure love to see a picture of this little guy.:D

Yep, in over 120 baby squirrels I've seen this maybe 4 times....but it will freak me out next time, just the same!
