I have 3 baby squirrels that I have had for a week, I just noticed that the runt is making the clicking sound. They are about 2 weeks old. All eat well out of a 1cc syringe, they have never had any formula come out of their nose. I live in Winter Haven Florida and will drive where I need to to get her antibiotics. Winter haven is about 60 miles out of Tampa, Florida. I am going to leave my number so that I can be reached. 863-307-5036.

:wave123 Hi Melissa :Welcome Welcome to TSB.
:) I need to ask a few question. This will help us to help you. Are you sure about the age? Can you take a picture and post it? Do you have a Gram scale? We need to have a weight on this baby. What are you feeding, how much, and how often? Do you have a heating pad under half the plastic container? (Please do not use cardboard!) :nono This will pull moister out of there little bodies.
If you are hearing clicking. This baby probably have aspiration Pneumonia. :shakehead Do you have any Antibiotic at all in your house? :thinking If so what kind? You need Baytril or Sulfatrim. That is the best Antibiotic! :thumbsup Jackie is in Tampa,Florida Anne is a Licensed Rehabber in Orange Park,Florida.
There are other rehabbers there to. Send Jackie a PM and she will know who would be the closest.:thumbsup I am also sending PM to a few Rehabbers. They will see them when they get up. Hang in there. Christal

I'm pretty sure on the age, I'm working on the pictures, my batteries are charging. They are on KMR, the lady who found them was feeding them rice milk. She said she has raised alot on that, but they were not gaining weight so I switched. They have started to gain weight since they have been on it, with good appetites, solid mustard color poo's and plenty of urine output. Like I said before have never had a problem with aspiriation, no formula has ever came out of there nose. They eat every 2 and half hours from the time the first one starts eating. They eat about 1.2 cc, except her she will sometimes eat that but mostly closer to .8 cc's. All weigh right at 20 grams They are in a plastic container heating pad half under with a fleece blanket. I have raised them before and as soon as I got them I spent hours pouring over the board for and suggestions. The biggest thing right this second is wheater or not i keep feeding her or switch her to pedialyte so I don't tax her system further. After I fed her is when the clicking became noticable it was with every breathe and she was breathing heavily. Now that all her food is digested she is breathing better but if you really listen the clicking is still there.

Ok I cant figure out howe to post a pic. I'm really worried, I know how fast an animal of this size can go down. I went ahead and fed Olivia, but I just fed her about .5 cc. I left my number on my other post. you can call me text me or message me on here I will be checking.

Do not stop feeding her! She needs the nutrition. If you hear the clicking sound while breathing. Then it is pneumonia. That is what I think. I would treat with Baytril. Can you get a definite wt. on this little won. Still trying Jackie.
If you are going to start rehabbing Squirrels Please! Please! order some FoxVally 32/40 Formula. It is so much healthier for these little squirrels. It is made just for them with all nutrition the need. (just like mom milk.):thumbsup You need to call in the order. His name is Nick Tell him you need it ASAP !:thumbsup

After talking to Jackie, we came to the conclusion that she pobably does not have pneumonia. I am still closely watching her as well as the other 2. All three are eating great and seem to be gaining weight. I have a scale but it's cheap and not very accurate, so i'm looking for one, but even so I can tell they are heavier. If you PM me your e-mail address I will send you pics. This probably could be moved out of the life threatning thead. Thank you again for your advice and guidence.:grouphug
