I have posted already but have not introduced myself... So hello all! I am an animal lover of all sorts. Earlier this week I was introduced to the world of baby squirrels. I was visiting family when my grandmother told me baby squirrels had fallen from a huge tree in her yard. I went to survey the situation and much like most of you could not leave them. I know have just one little baby boy, my husband named him Scrambles. I finally got him to sit still for a few pictures to share with you all

OH and Scrambles is starting to open one eye! The Vet said he was 3 weeks old last Friday. I thought it was a bit to early for eye opening?

Your babies are older than three weeks, you can tell by their coats. My foxer babies usually open their eyes right at the five week mark. Good luck with them. Stacey

yep about 5 weeks. Remember that MOST vets, unless they are "wildlife vets" have no clue about squirrels. Seriously, NO clue. :shakehead

Aww! I thought one was cute and now you have double the cuteness. Good luck with them. As someone who has raised a baby squirrel since late January (he is now 7 months old), I highly recommend reading the Nutrition section and asking all the questions you want. No question is a dumb or silly question, especially when it comes to our squirrels!

Oh, and keep the pictures coming! What is the little girl's name?

yay pictures! congrats! =D im happy to see how much better the little guy is doing =) let me know how the fecal float went! i hope its good news!

also, my girls opening their eyes a little early (4-4 1/2 weeks) but yours are MUCH furrier than mine were, so Im guessing youre are opening them at the standard time of 5 weeks or so. Probe at their top gums with a gentle fingertip - do you feel little chompers starting to come through?

As far as I know he is a wildlife vet... He specializes in small and exotic pets and their office rehabs at least 25 squirrels a year. That's why I was so happy to find him.... Although he can be a bit absent minded. I am just very excited for this "eye opening experience" :rotfl

5 weeks is good though. They might be ready for release before it gets cold. If not I am happy to care for them over the winter. My hubby is already laying out plans to build a large cage.
