Hi All - Two questions regarding my baby with the infected foot:

Meds - I was able to get some liquid Baytril. It's orange flavored, which isn't going over great. I put some on a pecan and he ate some but spit out a piece - unheard of! He won't eat the blocks. I tried a little peanut butter on some bread that has pumpkin seeds - no go. I put some on an almond then rolled it in pecan meal and I think he ate most of that. Any tips? The vet said not to mix in almond extract because of the alcohol. Maybe a dab of maple syrup?

Trapping - I've set a havahart but am not optimistic that I'll get this little one quickly. He/she will come to about 2 1/2 feet-3 feet of me, and someone suggested a net, but that seems pretty complicated. Any trapping methods to recommend?

Feel free to point me to useful threads. Thanks very much!

Try a peanut butter pill. crush a few cheerio's on a piece of plastic wrap, put med's in the cheerio, take a blob of peanut butter and make a little hole in the center of peanut butter and put the cheerio mixture in it and rolled it closed....to make it less sticky roll it in sunflower seeds and put it in the freezer for a few minutes to harden up. Then toss to that squirrel.

Good Luck

yes very good ...you can substitute avacodo and sesame seeds,
also empty peanut shelll and fill shell with mixture...if oral meds, you can inject into grape or melon...
if sticky meds you can coat a pecan half with meds and they will get yucky hands and lick it off..
whatever method, Good Luck..
have an appropriate cage ready and a vet/rehabber lined up in case something goes wrong..
wild sqs tend to chew and without proper sized bar spacing they can snap their teeth off and scar their face rubbing..
Plastic pet taxi/carriers are not advised for anything but toothless babies..
Keeping in a very quiet, petless childless area is best...covered.
Having Bach's Recue Remedy will help too.
