I had a Repti Glow 5 but hubby dropped the light and the bulb blew. So, now that I am going out to buy a new one I thought I'd ask what the best one is. My lighting fixture is for an 18" bulb (TUBE).

Ok ... maybe I worded this question wrong since no one wants to offer up any suggestions.

Let me try it this way.
What type, if any, full spectrum lighting does everyone use?

Hello.
I have researched UVB lighting thoroughly (since I keep several reptiles). Fluorescent tubes are definitely a great way to go. You never use coil bulbs. They are horrible for UV output. And the best bulb available is a Mercury Vapor Bulb (MVB). These produce the closest thing to natural sunlight. But as far as tubes go, ReptiSun bulbs are the only fluorescent tubes that put out good UVB. ReptiGlo bulbs are known for causing eye problems (due to the fact that they emit a type of UVB which boarders on UVC). Using a ReptiSun 5.0 should be good for squirrels.
And remember - replace fluorescent tubes every six months and MVBs every year! :D

ETA - petmountain.com sells the ReptiSun bulbs very cheap!

Thank you very much. I will look for the ReptiSun 5.0 in my local reptile store and if they don't carry it I will buy it off line.

Thanks again.
