After eating some eggs for breakfast then going up to play with our little girl she was trying to pry open my mouth to get at my nasty egg breath.
Today I gave her a very small piece and she was ravenous for it. While I guess it's past the point, are eggs good/bad for squirrels? I would assume they might even eat them in the wild if they came across them. But want to know if anyone knows for sure if they are good or bad and if whites or yolks would make a big difference and how much would be okay to give.

Eggs are fine--good protein! In the wild they eat bird eggs raw, but I would feed them cooked just to be on the safe side. Your girl may be hungry for protein....Is she eating her blocks okay?

Thanks, I thought so but wanted to make sure.
She eats 1-2 blocks a day now. With some mushrooms and kale and 3cc formula (goat's milk, yogurt, heavy cream). We're still working on getting FoxValley.
I will start to give her 1/2 an egg a day?

Most of us only dream of the day we can get our squirrels to eat eggs! Now Jake the rat, he eats eggs, but my squirrels (Scooby and my two releases) won't touch em. They do eat their blocks and monkey chow though.

You'll probably find that after a few days she'll get tired of them. But they're certainly healthy and I'd let her eat all she wants for now.:thumbsup Her body might be telling her she needs more protein. Growing squirrels need lots of protein!

Would they eat the shell, s well? It's a good source of calcium.

Good question - I would be interested to know if anyone has had any experience with this. I know that it is recommended for humans, when calcium supplements unavailable/inefficient. It is recommended to finely crush/grind egg shells and take 1 - 2 tbsp with water.

I'll start giving her some tomorrow morning with breakfast and rinse out the shell for her to chew too.

Will we have to worry about her cholesterol with her eating eggs?

She's been getting them scrambled. I've been mixing in some goat's milk and kale to give a little extra calcium and try to sneak in some leafy-greens. . .which she of course eats around =/
