I was given a baby boy squirrel with a head injury. A friend of mine brought it to work for me last night. I have pain meds and antibiotics. Can I give him these? They are for squirrels but I don't remember the names of them. I just don't want to give him something that will make the concussion worse. He has swelling to one side of his face and a wound on the top of his head. I have him on heat and have been rehydrating him. I gave him a tiny bit of formula. He is an Eastern grey at about 6 - 7 weeks. If I take him to my rehabber I think that she would just put him down. I want this guy to get the best chance that he can get.

One bottle doesn't say what it is unless the "Chlor Palm 250 susp" The other doesn't have a label. It was given to me by a rehabber and is a pink liquid.

Sorry, the pink liquid says TMS. I don't know what that means though.

I have no idea what those are. I'm thinking the pink liquid is an antibitoic, but I have no Idea which one it could be. Maybe someone on here can help you out with that.

Dex is used for swelling for these situations, but you have to get it from a vet or a rehabber who may have some one hand. Hoepfully, someone will be one here soo to help you- Let me check on more resource- so just hang on a sec.... BRB.

:wave123 Did you keep the pink liquid in the refrigerator? Is it a thick looking liquid or clear. It could be Ammoxacillin, and I'm not sure how to spell it.If it is thick and creamy. That would make it an antibiotic, but they usually have an expiration date.I would be very careful.May be another person would know better.I have been given Ammoxicillin ,for my squirrels that's why I know what it looks like. The pediatricians ,also prescribed it to my kids when they were young.:Love_Icon Best wishes to you,and may you have great success:nurse with your new baby boy.:grouphug This is allot to take on ,But I'm so thankful that you are willing to try.:thankyou :thumbsup (From the little guy)To you.:bowdown God Bless you!

Just note that nost 'cillins antibiotics ( amoxicillins, penecills' etc) are pretty rough on a squirrel's GI tract, and not reccommended if you have access to other antibiotics.

Not trying to step on your toes lilbitsquirrely :D Just trying to help out! :peace

squirrelfriend, those are both antibiotics. One is chloropalmitate and one is SMP (Sulfatrim). Neither will do anything except clear up an infection, but they won't stop swelling. For that you would need Dex, if you can get it somehow.

Thank you for all of your replies. Sorry, I work nights and sleep days. I didn't get a chance to update this. Unfortunately the little guy died not too long after my post. Poor little guy. R.I.P. little Lindros.:Love_Icon
