Also known as Japanese plums; my aunt gave me a whole bag of these babies and I was just curious if they're be safe for gray squirrels and flyers? I know they're addictive to humans, very very delicious, like the fruit version of crack. =DD

Are they small ... orange in color with approx. 4 large seeds inside?
If so, these are a favorite of all my outside squirrels. We are always in competition with them to get them first. They will clean off a tree in no time! :D

My neighbor has these trees in his yard. My husband dug one up (about 5' or 6' tall) and put it in a pot with plans on planting in yard somewhere. Would it be okay to bring potted tree on front porch for MonkeyButt to climb on? It doesn't have any fruit. I guess what I am asking is are the leaves and branches okay for him to chew on?
Thanks,
Michele in Tampa

Generally if the fruit is okay to eat, so are the branches; and if the wilds eat them, they're definitely okay. But with any new food item, it's a good idea to give them just a small piece at first and watch for any reaction.
