Hi. There's this wonderful squirrel who comes to visit me daily - she's one of many, but one of the more friendly creatures. Lately she's exhibited signs of illness. a few weeks ago she was sneezing nonstop and she ate much more slowly than ever before. well, the cold seems to have gone away for the most part, but today i noticed something completely weird. She's slipping and having a hard time gaining balance. in fact, she nearly fell over the fire escape when eating a hazelnut i had to crack for her. it was so strange to see - i've always known squirrels to have the best coordination, so it's obvious she's struggling hard.
First question - if she's a mom, should i even bother trying to help if it would mean the kids would be left alone? Second, is there a hotline one can call to get some guidance? Third, should I just let nature take it's course?
Sadly, in 30 minutes I have to leave my apartment for a couple hours. the window of opportunity today may have just closed. But if she shows up tomorrow, at least I'll be equipped with a roadmap.
Thanks all!
