Quick question for those who feed their grey's HHB. My lil girl likes them, but is it normal for there to be crumbs, not alot but as she is eating them ( gnawing) there are crumbs around her from it. Is she consuming it or just gnawing it ? Compared to the size of the block, I know she is eating most of it, but compared to her eating her veggies and fruit which she leaves behind nothing, I just wanted to see if it is normal based on the way a squirrel eats.

Not just with HHB's but with all rodent block there are LOTS of crumbs. I think when squirrels are younger they shred and crumble more than they eat, but later they do get most of it in their tummies. :)

I worried about this too with MonkeyButt, but as he got older (3 months now) I found that he usually cleans up the crumbs also.

Yep, lots of crumbs... and Skweeks loves to nom his while sitting on my bed. And I can tell you from experience Henry's crumbs dry into hard little bits that seem to burrow into your flesh when you sleep. We now have to shake the coverlet before we go to bed. :rotfl

At 9 mts Mugzi is still a slob. I have balled scraps together and rewarmed them.I have smeared them with 4 different types of oil, I have tried honey, maple syrup, and my own recipe. He likes one thing one day and then completely snubs it for days. Mugzi is the Master of Nibble and Toss!
He is so picky that I swear he thrives on mere molecules!
He is also a SLOB!

I think your baby is doing just fine. just stay away from junk food. Once their palate gets spoiled you are in for serious fun and games!

Jackie does this as well. But will pile up the crumbs and save them for a snack later.
