i found a Blue Tit egg just moments ago. Right now i put it in a small box with rodent fluff, string, and paper. Can anyone provide a care sheet or something. What temperature should it stay in, how long does it take till it hatches? what do i do when it hatches? This is my first bird egg to rehab. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi again! I have to step away, but I am hopeful a rehabber will be here to help you shortly.
Hey, in the meantime can you post a picture of the bird egg?
Good luck.
I have to step away for a moment. bbl.

I found this to start...I'm still looking...
Each breeding season, questions about finding a bird egg arrive in our email. "How do I care for the birds egg I found and get it to hatch?" We understand this question comes from those that care about our backyard birds.
Unfortunately, the answer is not a simple step by step guide to hatching bird eggs. In most cases it is illegal to be in possession of a wild bird egg.
With the exception of European Starlings, House Sparrows and Pigeons, any possession of eggs, feathers, nest, or birds would be in violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
Forget The Law, I Care About The Bird Egg!
So do we. The process of hatching to fledgling is not as simple as it appears. Temperature, humidity, and turning of the egg all play a part in successfully getting a bird from egg to flying free in the wild.
Most wildlife rehabilitators will have little interest in hatching an egg you've found. On average, an egg needs to have a constant temperature of 100 degrees fahrenheit to hatch.
Turning of the egg to prevent overheating needs to be done several times daily throughout the incubation time. Humidity is also important during incubation. Providing all these requirements is more than most people can do. Keep in mind this is over a 24 hour time period. No sleeping throughout the night.
Most bird eggs you find will not be viable. Eggs are fragile and while there may not be any visible cracks on the eggshell, an egg dropped on the ground is most likely no longer a viable egg. The membrane inside maybe damaged causing harm to the embryo.
As stated before, temperature plays a major part in whether an egg hatches or not. An egg left to cool once the incubation process has been started can spell disaster for the egg.
When and where you find the bird egg can be significant in the viability of the egg as well. Predators often drop eggs or place them somewhere. Often leaving them because of harassment from other predators or from adult birds attacking them.
How long the egg may have been left in the open can be a determining factor in whether the egg is able to hatch. Do you know how long the egg has been left out to the elements?
Even if you were successful in getting an egg to hatch, the survival chances of the young nestling would be minimal at best.

I did the water age test, and it is more than a week old:

ive tried a bunch of times to hatch eggs with no success.
oh i was such a devoted bird mom! keeping them warm, turning the egg every 1/2 hour keeping the humidity up, but it didn't work
i have vowed only to save the ones that have actually hatched unless someday i can afford to buy an incubator

I might suggest not shining the light directly on it.
Temperture difference may result.
A heating pad underneath might be a better way.
Be sure you have a means to check temp.
It should be close to 100-101 degrees.

How’s your bird egg doing?

I think it's doing well (: I have a heat lamp on it and a heating pad on that it's sitting on. I turn it every 30-60 minutes.

really needs humidity or the baby not develop properly, parents sit on the eggs skin on egg and get them all sweaty all day and night

how do i create humidity?
By putting something wet near the egg (like a wet sponge or wet paper towels) in a partly enclosed container with the egg. Sweetie, it's unlikely this egg is viable. But if there's to be any chance, get the humidity going right away.
Hope we get a nice surprise here.

Ok i got a tupperware bowl and put some nesting stuff in it, then put the egg on that, then the wet paper towel on the egg. The heat lamp is shining on it with a heating pad underneath it.

Don't want to rain on any parades but unless your egg was warm when you found it and didn't cool off--or fresh laid and brooding hadn't started, I doubt it'll hatch. I'm going on a little experience with chickens, but once an egg has started incubating it needs constant heat--104 degrees for a chicken egg--no hot spots--and humidity but not directly wet. Mama turns her egg--every couple of hours for chickens but who knows for smaller eggs. You could check out hatching quail eggs--they're small and they are routinely incubated. Check out "Starling Talk." If anybody can help, they can. They are as passionate about birds as TSB is about squirrels. Good luck!

Going good (: Still doing the daily routine of turning it every hour adjusting the lighting, constantly wetting the cloth xD when it hatches (i hope it does) that will be exciting :)

okay, next question, do you have a recipe for handfeeding formula if it does hatch? you will need to feed her every 15-20 minutes sunup to sundown for the first few days, keeping up the humidity and a heating pad will be needed, the light on her 24-7 will harm a little a little bird .
imo you maybe should try to find a rehabber so she wont be raised alone if it hatches

If your little baby hatches, how will you deal with the problem of "imprinting"?
Fingers crossed for the little one!:D

You did a truly wonderful thing to rescue and nurture the bird, and if it were meant to be, then you would have made the most caring of bird moms. Rest in peace little bird, know you were loved here on earth by a caring and loving individual.:Love_Icon

Thank you everyone. I found the place where the other birds are, Its a nestbox i made 2 years ago i looked in it to find 8 little eggs that look exactly the same as the one i found. 3 days ago i checked again and they have hatched (: i started petting one, and then the mom came and sat on the branch next to me waiting for me to get down. I got down and the mom flew right in. She trusts me. Yesterday i checked and they now have feathers and their eyes are finally open (: i held one today and they are just adorable! The whole thing about you get your scent on t hem and the mom won't come back is not true. i did my homework before touching them. (: i love watching these little things grow!
