Thanks to tsb my boys are healthy! I think Garth may make a full recovery and I am soooo grateful I found this place. :crazy
Wayne is my problem child right now.:dono He continues to hunt, frisk and yell for junk food. He will eat Jackie's milkshake recipe which I give to each of them every morning and evening. Nearly half the squirrel blocks get eaten each day but I house them together and can't be sure if they both eat them. Garth is my easygoing boy and will try almost everything I give him. Wayne watches suspiciously for Garth's reaction. If Garth likes the new veggie or fruit, Wayne will promptly steal it, taste it, and typically spit it out. He then looks at me like, where is my nut? how about a cherio or yogart cookie? Maybe you got some cheeze it's in your pocket?? He found a piece of cracker on the floor yesterday and growled like a bear, no one could get near him until he had devoured it. How long before he forgets about junk food? Oh, most days I will give them 5-6 small pumpkin seeds each at lunch time and they each get an almond at bedtime.102945

Thanks. I think they are gorgeous too!!
1. Any suggestions for Wayne's junk food withdrawals? He is moody, does not stop for cuddles and will not let me hold him like he used to. I like to wipe them down with babywipes and he used to love it - Garth still does. Poor lil Wayne going to get stinky soon.
2. Are pumpkin seeds OK to feed them, I purchased from health food store, they are described as raw, all natural and are small & green.
3. I did not see edamame on good or bad list. Is a soy bean and has 4% calcium, 8% iron, 10% vit A, 10%c.

In additon to above questions I have a question about Wayne's teeth.
A friend suggested using drummel to file teeth instead of cutting? Any opinions?

dremels are noisy and move, vibrate...
try a electric toothbrush...if he will tolerate that by his face ...maybe...:dono
i know i would have to sedate rocky every
three weeks to dremel his teeth:shakehead
i know the end results would be better shaped teeth,
but iso isn't an option for me...
after a year of trimming Waynes teeth, if they don't align right..
maybe extraction:dono
sometimes they do , sometimes they don't

rocky has one upper tooth period, [and his molars of course],
i trim that single tooth every three weeks for several years now, pretty basic but yes, high maintainance!
Couple times a month, we have Rocky Spa Day~nails, teeth, ears and bath!:tilt :Love_Icon
he actually likes being pampered!:)

sigh...i know you wanted to release ttthese brothers together...:Love_Icon :Love_Icon
but sometimes it just can't be....although these teeth may change, but it is doubtful, really...
push the calcium...promote growth, if there's a chance, he needs to eat top shelf!:thumbsup
and if he does remain a captive nr...he will need to eat what's good for him forever!:Love_Icon
we all struggle with pet sq diets...hardest fight i have ever fought...
:poke no fudgin' mom...
but your boys look great!:thumbsup

Wayne actually takes the teeth cutting well according to the vet. I just hear his cries and feel awful. He is always calm afterward and just wants cuddles. I'll see how he reacts to the toothbrush noise before trying a drummel. Any specific drummel, like for human nails or dog nails?

As far as release I am afraid Wayne may be my forever squirrel. Garth looks like he may get full use of back legs but he is so wimpy I am not sure he would make it out there. Wayne bosses him, takes his food, etc and he just lays flat and does not try to fight back.

I am willing to feed both of them top shelf - I think they may have a better diet then I do now, lol. They are soooooooooooo picky, one day they love something, the next they turn up their nose. Wayne is especially picky. I did get him to eat avacado today - wrapped in lettuce and he was hooked. Also discovered they like their veggies steamed & squirrel blocks must be warmed.

Gina, I do some hand work with Dremel tools and the vibrations to their skull would be really pretty extreme. I can't imagine doing that while they were conscious. They are also quite noisy. If you keep after them - say do them once a week, or every other week, could you use a small ahnd held file? That way you get precision control and while there would be vibration, if you do just one stroke at a time, they might settle in between strokes. If this is interesting to you the place to look is woodworking and woodcarving sites. The small files are called "rifflers" and come in many sizes.

If you go into a beauty supply store to the section where the fake nail stuff is, they sell some very heavy duty emery type boards that might work, too. You can get the tooth surface nice and smooth with a file or a board, and it is easy to stop when things get scary.

Thanks, I will look for a good nail file and try that. I had a feeling the drummel might be a bad idea for me to try so glad I did not do it. He has had enough stress in his young life already.
