Even though Mr. Wobbles is still MIA, today a ray of sunshine landed in my lap, or on my deck. I went to hang out some clothes (saving money on electricity for the spring babies) and I saw a tiny puff of brown in the corner of my deck, it was a Brown Creeper (tiny little bird). He/she had hit my high windows and was knocked silly. I brought "Brownie" in and sat him/her on a snuggle safe in a bird cage and covered with a light cloth. I then went to pick up my son from middle school. When we arrived home I told him of my discovery and wanted him to come with me into my office. A teaching moment happens when least expected so I always take advantage of each one of them. When we entered my office, there was movement in the cage. I lifted the cloth off Brownie and he/she was ready for action and release. I cupped him/her in my hand, Ben opened my office window and we released Brownie to continue life. I told Ben it is not everyday you are blessed with saving an animal, each rescue is a gift.

Wonderful story! I, of course, have focused my efforts on squirrels, but I have had the honor of helping to rehab and release just about every native Florida species (except panthers, bears, and alligators) that exist, and there's nothing that compares to that moment when you set them free. :grouphug
