anyone feed these to a sq yet? Just wondering since I have them in my fridge right now.

Phosphorus

it's for sure in the risky area but if there's no problem giving it to sqs I'm sure once in a blue moon can't hurt... can it?

I don't know of anyone feeding them yet....
This is the root of a flower in the daisy family (or aster to be more precise). Very edible by humans, and tasty. They are however starchy, and very high in fructose. Apparently, they can cause gas in humans (but then so can broccoli).
I see no reason not to try it, but try just a tiny bit at first. (I gave Henry a tiny bit of turnip once and he threw it up; so glad I didn't give him more.)
Even if there are no harmful effects, I don't think this is going to be a "healthy veggie" since it's a tuber, high in starches and sugars. More like an occasional treat.
Let us know what you find out. If they LOVE them, we'll have to take a closer look at the nutrition.:D

thanks Leigh, will let you know and don't worry, just a tiny bit just to see if they like them, if they do, maybe a 1/2" cube once a week or so for variety...
