I was looking over the sq. food list and I see that cherries are listed but I was worried about the pits. :thinking
I know my outdoor sq. never ate the pits in my cherry tree, in fact they pretty much spit them at my kitchen window and between them and the birds, they pretty much completely strip every last cherry out of the tree in one morning but I just want to check with you guys before I give them any.
(Ever notice when you're waiting for your fruit to ripen just right, and say "they're going to be PERFECT tomorrow" you wake up and look in the tree and it's all gone!!!)
I was hoping to include a few with tomorrow's breakfast......

I give my flyers cherries, but I cut them in half and remove the pits. Mainly because flyers are small, and a whole cherry is too much fruit for them. On the rare times that I have given them a whole cherry, they don't eat the pits.

No pits from stone fruit - cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, etc., for squirrel or human. They contain cyanide. You or I would have to eat a pile of them to get sick but little critters would only need a few. Pit the cherries!

Critter Mom is right, cyanide is an accummulator, not sure how to say, but it does not leave the body, but sits and waits for more to accummulate until it reaches a toxic level, then it will kill you.
Palmer stole a whole cherry the other day and wolved it down pit and all...:shakehead
