Does anyone know if squirrels can have sweet gum balls? If so, how many? There are green balls and brown balls on my trees, which ones can they have? Also can they have the branches as well from the sweet gum tree?

I read where another member was giving their squirrel some, but could not find them on the Healthy Nutrition list. :thankyou

I used to give Penelope the green ones. She loved them! Try giving a couple a week as a special treat. She never had any problems digesting them or anything. But maybe wait to see if someone more knowledgable has any objections just to be safe.

As long as he doesn't chew them in class, it's ok! :D
You know I didn't know gum balls grew on trees!! :rotfl

OMG, I kill me! :tilt

Ok, I'm done, sorry, I couldn't resist, I know nothing of those trees, I live in the far north, where there are 4 different kinds of trees, :rotfl

Carry on :thumbsup

Thanks to all that have responded. I finally gave my little girl a sweetgum ball. She really liked it. After she ate it, she looked for some more.

I do not plan to give her any more until I can find out more about them. Searched the web some, and it said wild squirrels do eat them.

Far as I know they're okay....my wilds ate them. (BTW, the official name of those little balls is "Ouch! Oh $h!t! Stepped on another one!" :D )
