Ok, I apologise if this is in the wrong forum but I can't find any plans!!! Maybe i'm not too smart but i've spent hours looking through various threads.

I was sure that ontario rehabber posted some back around april and I was sure I saw them when viewing mookies' thread ... but ...:dono

this is the plan as I remember it...

It was a nest within a nest, so that the racoon could not get his paw in and get to the squirrel. there were at least 2 outside holes for escape and the 2 for the inner chamber.

thanks in advance.

ps: it must be racoon proof!!!!

pps: I drew this from memory.

gs1—Hi! I don't know about being raccoon proof, but here are two great threads about it.

The Squirrel Board > General > Breed Specific, Pet Squirrels, and UK Information. > General Discussion > Nest Boxes & Release Cages (http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4362&highlight=nest)

and also, The Squirrel Board > Help Needed! > Non Life Threatening Help Needed > How to find a rehabber in Queens, NYC (http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19220) Post #13, I have quoted it below for you:

Hi kcassidy....I actually built my squirrel box with diagrams from the Army Engineers...no joke....I call it my squirrel-dominium. I live in Smithtown and I am studying to be a rehabber...I can't take the test until April 2010. [B]IR ...I am trying!! So I am studying and learning as much as I can. I attached a picture of my wild yard baby Rosalie, resting on her porch of her squirrel-dominium. These guys love them, my hubby built two for me. I hope the picture came through. http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=95056&stc=1&d=1253673865

OK Pointy Tale here are the websites for the squirrel boxes; there are two....the first one is a little less confusing, the second is the army engineer one...a little long and drawn out. I use Cedar wood, it is a little expensive but it is easier for them to climb on and cedar helps repel bugs.

You can just make a plain box really tall, like 2 feet, and put the hole in the top side corner. Nothing should be able to scoop into it, but it's a pain to hang.

I build mine shorter, but put a shelf on the inside right below the hole so that nothing can grab at the contents of the box.

That's what we do, too. :thumbsup
