Something's not right....He seems very weak...and when he went to jump onto the curtain from my arm, he didn't even have enough energy to make it to the curtain...he fell to the floor....although he did take a moth larve from me and eat it, along with some baby food, he looks miserable...he is curled up in my sleeve..every now and then, he likes puffs himself up as though he were pushing to go to the bathroom....I did check his potty area and there is some poop and pee, but not as much as normal, but then I just cleaned the area not too long ago, so I can't really be sure how much he's gone today....
His appitite last night and the night before was poor....I did manage to get calcium into him last night though....
Tomorrow is Tiffany's appointment with the doctor, and I plan on bringing Timothy with me...It's at 8:30am....In the meantime, I'm frantic...I just don't understand what it could be......

Does he feel cold or warm to you? If he's not thermoregulating for some reason, put him on heat immediately. You might see if he will take some warm fluids....it should help him get things through his system faster. Does he seem dehydrated?

Are you able to feel his belly? Does it feel hard or soft? Could he be constipated?

Aww, poor Tim. Could he have gotten into something he shouldn't? I would offer heat, it can't hurt. He could have come down with a cold or something and is just feeling a little under the weather. I hope he is feeling better real soon and it isn't anything serious.

I know you feed him a good diet, but is it at all possible this could be MDB? His inability to grab onto things worries me. Should calcium be given, just in case?
I am so so sorry Timothy's not feeling well! I know you must be frantic.:grouphug

He's not cold, but he's not warm either...somewhere in between....His stomach from what I can tell doesn't seem to be hard....And he's not dehydrated....
He did readily and quickly snached and ate the worm, yet he didn't want any of his favorites.....
As far as gettint into something....I don't think so..he's been in that room for over a year now without incident.....
I have the heating pad on and it's under 1/2 the small travel cage I use to transport them to the vets......
What warm fluids should I offer?

Oh no! Poor Timothy! I don't have any advice to offer but he will be in my thoughts and prayers to find out what's going on and get him back to feeling better. :grouphug :Love_Icon :grouphug

If he will still take formula, and you have any, try that. And keep on with the calcium. Does he like yogurt? How about peanut butter? Have to go now, but will be back on when I get home.
Timothy, you be a good boy and eat and drink whatever your squammy gives you. We all want you feeling good, and back at the top of your form quickly! You are one of our best friends!

can you offer him another worm, sometimes THEY KNOW what they need. If you think he's constipated , anything natural apple, or pumkin puree!
Pedialyte would be good, or yogurt [wanted to say esbilac...not].
I am so happy you found these vets..it feels good knowing you /they will get help!
I hope he feels better:crybaby ...I would give the extra calcium too, it can't hurt him..

Sorry for the silence...I fell asleep with Timmothy and Tiffany....I originally had him on heat, but at some point he climbed out of the cage and snuggled with me....
Anyway...I was finally able to turn him over...with a few protest bites....and saw he was impacted...So I ran warm water on his bumm and peeled all the dry stuff off and managed to get a large poop out.....He is back on heat and even ate a little baby food...........Question..After I cleaned out the last Big poop, it was followed by clear slimmy stuff...I though maybe it was his bodies lubricant for pooping..........??
Before I left the room, I looked in on him and he briefly was washing himself.....What would cause him to become impacted?

Think about the foods that he's been eating over the last week. If you're like me, you look at that bowl & his cage every time you remove to see what's missing....so, what has he been eating? Has he managed to get some 'treats' that aren't normal for him? Has he been chewing/eating a lot of wood/cardboard? I'm just throwing out random thoughts here. I'm sure Muffin or someone will have suggestions for the cause, as well.
And, not to be gross, but sometimes when humans are 'backed up' & things finally 'start moving', what comes behind the blockage is particularly loose. Body-created lubrication or just the result of 'sitting' for longer than normal...I have no idea. :thinking
Kiss both of your kids for me! Love them! (And rubs for the rest of their housemates!) :grouphug

This may sound a bit gross to some, but something I was compelled to do....When I cleaned Timothy out, I managed to save the large poop....After breaking it down I found something in there that I had suspected...Seeds.....
About 3 days ago, I gave him a small bowl of sunflower seed hearts and in the mix was seed...probably millit...I use it for the birds...Timothy has never shown an interest in eating seeds and thought what I gave him was fine....Well it wasn't.......NEVER FEED BIRD SEEDS TO YOUR SQUIRRELS!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!
To think I caused this gives me a sick feeling...I'm suppose to protect him and I ended up hurting him......I just hope they all passed....and thank GOD for a wonderful vet.....
He hasn't had anything to eat or drink since he had water and baby food...I think his weakness is from lack of nurishment....I may have to syringe feed him espilac...he won't take the yogart and has not touched the apple piece I gave him...I will offer him applesauce.....
Please don't stop praying for him....GOD is gracious and is guiding me....
Thanks guys......:grouphug

TP -- good thinking, checking the poop! Otherwise you would not have known what caused this....and how many people would be smart enough to check (or brave enough)? We should have T-shirts made that say something like:
squirrels. it's all about the poop.
Prayers and good energies still coming your way for Timothy. :grouphug

Please, stop beating yourself up! You are one of the best HOFs I've had the pleasure of getting to know. You are human & fallible. You made a mistake, were able to fix the problem & find the cause. Not many would do that. I can't say that I would have thought to check the poop. :hidechair
A little TLC & a check up with the vet (may want to take the poop with you to run a fecal, just in case) & I don't doubt that Timothy will be feeling more like himself in a few days. When Christine didn't feel well due to mouth infection, the only thing she would eat was esbilac. It was like feeding a baby squirrel all over again....she couldn't get enough. Also, maybe a little hydrating is in order...couldn't hurt to give a little pedialyte now & then to help him balance out, in my opinion. Maybe a rice buddy if he doesn't feel like snuggling with mom or can't for whatever reason.
I'll be praying that you all feel better in the morning. :grouphug
Try to get some rest & give Timothy a few extra kisses from me. :Love_Icon
:poke BTW, it's my bday today, not Ardilla's. I know you were stressed tonight, so I'll forgive you. :D

LM...sorry bout the mix up...and yes i am quite stressed.....anyway....HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEGOMOM.....
I offered my boy some espilac with cream and he woundl't touch it....I rubbed some in his mouth hoping it would entice him, but it didn't...he also turned his nose up at applesauce....
I will be fixing homemade pediolite....if he won't take it, do i force feed with a syringe? and how much and how ofted?
At the moment Timothy is sleeping in the sleeve of his favorite sweatshirt, which I am wearing.....He just wants to be with mama.......
Tomorrow morning can't come soon enough for me.......

When I am feeding them and they don't want to take whatever it is (formula, meds, whatever) I put a little bit of honey or syrup on the end of the nipple. That usually makes them willing to at least try what I am trying to give them. (Like they say....a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.) :D
