So as I am raising my baby girl Dani and she is WAY to young for release yet should I let her out in winter?
I mean would the snow make her cold?
Or is it possible to let her play outside when there is no snow?
I just really don't want her to get house cramped as she is going to be able to stand in the next few weeks and I want her to get out and exercise.

I'm sure someone will be on to help you shortly. What state do you live in?? You will want to do a "soft" release. You will need to build a SECURE cage outside, and put a nest box,and limbs etc. If you live in a state where it gets super cold and snow, I wouldn't attempt to release a baby in the winter, but I live in Indiana. I'm sure other people will give better advise shortly!!! Give your baby a few belly rubs from me :)

My babies that are the same age as yours and even slightly younger are tentatively scheduled for a fall release. The general guideline is to release by holloween or overwinter. It will be close, but your little guy should be ready. I release when mine can crack open a walnut on their own, have been in the outside cage at least 3 weeks, and are sleeping in the nestbox, burying nuts, and climbing/running well. The last thing that is always what I am waiting for is the cracking the walnut it seems. Sometimes I think they know that is what I am looking for and pretend they can't so they can stay longer :D. Since your squirrel is a singleton, I think it is even more important for him to get out there sooner so he is still open to having squirrely friends, but since he is a singleton it may take him longer to grow up.
