View Full Version : prayers request - Nutters Babies
I am very worried.
Mandie knows exactly what to do, I have 100% confidence in her.
She and the babies need all the prayers and love vibes we can send.
Here I quote her.
My poor lil sick babies. I subqed them fluids their is nothing worse then hearing your baby cry b/c your hurting them. :nono
I ordered some Goat milk Esbilac and I am praying it will help them get rid of this diarrhea. Poor babies:Love_Icon GRRRRRR ESBILAC!!
I do consider this an emergency although I realise that maybe there is nothing else anyone can do - apart from prayers - and maybe a good batch of esbilac.
Esbilac cannot be home made? To prevent this in future? I guess I'll have to ask 4s.
Here is her link.

Actually, you could make your own formula pretty easily. However, why take the chance when Esbilac works so well? I suspect the heat may be the problem with a lot of our sick babies this year, not the Esbilac per se, unless it is expired. While still a powder, the Esbilac is unlikely to grow bacteria because it's dry. Yet, the nutrients could degrade quickly in warm conditions. Perhaps even (unopened) powdered Esbilac should be stored in the fridge in summer.
???
All I can offer is prayers for Mandie's precious little ones. :grouphug

PetAG said that the liquid is quite Sterile but the powder is not. My Babies are on liquid only b/c I cant get ahold of the powder right now.
I go through so much with the puppies its only the new cans I bought last week thursday. And I keep them refridgerated as well.
But I agree it should be kept cold even when sealed.

I'm sorry to hear about the babies Mandie. They will be in my prayers.:grouphug :Love_Icon
thanks 4s...
I asked because with rabbits we have to worry about mycotoxins in their pellets.
So when i think there's a problem with something like esbilac batches - then i'm all gung ho in making my own stuff.
If human baby formula can be contaminated - then all else is possible.
:thankyou
ps: glad to know it's possible.:)

The liquid formula is sold as sterile because they can put it in the cans, seal it, and then heat the cans to a certain temp, which technically renders it sterile. Like when you "can" veggies and fruits at home. What that does to the nutrients, I don't know. The powder is probably spray-dried, and then if you heated it you'd have goo, so no way to sterilize it. But of course, once it's opened it's a different story....the liquid would go bad much quicker since bacteria need moisture to grow.
There have been a lot of issues with milk products lately due to contamination at that one factory that produces bulk milk products, and a lot of recalls (I get all of FDA's "alerts" about recalled products automatically sent to me; believe it or not, it's about 6 per day, sometimes more!). I wonder if that's in any way related to Esbilac's "bad batch."???
Anyhow, I'm so glad to hear your precious ones are doing a little better. :grouphug :grouphug

Mandie sending lots of BIG PRAYERS, hope your babies are doing much better today :grouphug :grouphug

It's just not contamination that i worry about, it's also recipe changes that I worry about and also processing.
i've had medication not work because a certain ingredient amount had been changed.
And if the way they've processed it has changed then what does that mean to the final product?
In the other thread vet-lac was saying that their formula is processed so the fat globules are smaller and have better distribution which means that food stays in the body longer - less diarrhea. Maybe esbilac was the same but they decided to process in a way now that makes the globules bigger etc.
maybe they changed where they make the product?
I know I'm clutching at straws but diarrhea can be so deadly in the very young and elderly - even with electrolytes - which thank God shes using.
I'm such a worry-wort that i'd be out there milking my own cow - lol - and making my own formula.
We just don't know where we stand anymore with regard to food quality.

yes watching my mom can makes me wonder... Pickles are simple canning.. I think Milk would have to be done in a pressure cooker. . . canned beans are mushy b/c of it.. look at canned carrots... MUSH...
No wonder the canned liquid smells weird.
If it is a "bad" batch it is pretty freaky! and it would be wrong for them not to recall.
