i have read with interest about how important calcium and vitamin d are in the squirrels diet. well since karen decided he was going to wean himself two weeks ago he defiantly refuses anything remotely related to calcium. don't even think of powdering his food or putting drops in his water. he won't touch yogurt.
i was about ready to find a rehabber to take him because i was worried that he might end up crippled or worse because he had an aversion to calcium. (this boy is a picky eater. the older he gets the more he reminds me of my son. he won't touch the rodent block or iams puppy chow. grrrr. ) the other day when i was in the pantry getting our dogs a snack i found the yogurt drop treats that we had bought for our dogs last christmas. i read on the package and it said they provided calcium, vitamin a, vitamin d and vitamin e. i read the ingredients and didn't see anything that looked like it would hurt him. so i offered him a yogurt drop with his next meal. he ate it!! so now one feeding a day i give him two yogurt drops.
this might not be the best solution but it gives me a little peace of mind.:tilt
