I have recently had an outbreak of fleas in the house brought in by some bunnies I was rehabbing.

I'm moving everyone out and flea bombing the house, but Lucky is scratching and I know she has fleas on her. The last thing I want is her to have fleas and then having them back in the house once everything is cleared.

I recently used Capstar on an opossum that was infested with fleas and it worked a charm.

If I use it on Lucky, I would use 1/2 a tablet of the one used for dogs and cats 2 to 25 pounds. She probably weighs about a pound.

Advice anyone?

Capstar can be used on even baby squirrels with great success. Just remember that it kills fleas and eggs on the animal but does not PREVENT future infestation. You may need to use it again in another couple of weeks. I will send you a PM with more info.

Where are you rehabbing that is so susceptible to flea infestations?

The very first thing you do when you take in an animal is to get rid of fleas, well, after stabilizing them at least.

Secondly however, you need to understand the flea life cycle to treat it.

Bombs do nothing, you need siphotrol, and you need to vacuum really well as an environmental treatment. You get infestations from the pupael stage in the flea life cycle, bombs can't kill them, siphotrol can't kill them...the only treatment is removing the pupae by cleaning. For the rabbits (adults) you can use feline advantage (or dog advantage, doesn't really matter, same product different container)...dosed appropriately of course. For kits, you need to remove them manually or by bathing.
