Luckys tail feathers

Recently Luckys fur fell out of his tail (just in one spot) because he thought I step on him . I had heard that if there in danger or another animal grabs hold of there tail they literally release their fur so they can get away. I was just wandering if that was true, and about how long it takes for their hair to grow back.

i think so cuz my squirrels tail was broken off at the tip when she was little and she still messes with it when it gets too long for her:dono
