Are there any rehabbers near Kelowna, British Columbia? I'm about 4 hours away. A lady just called me, she's got 5 baby squirrels, she says they are red squirrels. She found them today, I think. She is leaving to go out of town and needs someone to take them. Do we have any rehabbers near there?

Thanks,
floridapossum

floridapossum, in the list I have been keeping, you and TSB member mikitoo are the only ones on the West coast of Canada. I don't know where she is but sent her an email and PM in case she is in range or has other contacts that are.

I've checked that list before, and there is no one in the Okanagan valley that I see. This has been a real problem this year, because I have been inundated with calls from that area. I sent the lady Critter Care's number, and am waiting to hear back from her. I really need to find some one in that area. I'm sure there is one, they probably just aren't liscensed or listed.

Wonderful News!
Here is the email I received a few minutes ago...

Hi Pam,
Good news! This morning we contacted a man from Fish and Wildlife in Vernon. He knows of a lady in Salmon Arm who rehabilitates squirrels so we took them there. Thanks for your help. I was able to get the puppy formula last night. This morning the squirrels looked much livelier! Thanks for your help.

Great to read! There are a number of communities in the Okanagan, I was hoping someone in the area would be able to take them in.

I used to live in the Okanagan, and I know there are rehabbers there, I just have to find them. That is a very animal conscious area, I'm going to make it my project to find some rehabbers in that area.

I noticed that on your list of Wildlife rehabbers the phone number of
CRITTERCARE is incorrect.

They are in Langley (not New Westminster) and the phone number is
604-530-2064.
They have wonderful resources for caring for orphaned wildlife mammals.

Mikitoo.

Good work, northern TSB-ers!! I missed this thread yesterday but looks like everything was taken care of perfectly. I will move the thread from the Emergency section and put it under REHABBER INFORMATION & LOCATIONS. :thumbsup

So I should be finding some reahabbers in that area next week, with any luck more than one. With their permission I will be posting their info, and hopefully talk them in to coming to the squirrel board. Wish me luck, we really need people in that area.:grouphug
