This is the closest I've found so far--shrew faced ground squirrel. See if it fits yours (go to link below).

Or this one on the common tree shrew in SE Asia. they look remarkably similar.

did you buy them in a store? they probably are pretty feral, probably not much handling given to them. but even a hamster will react that way in a stressful situation even a kitten will. be very patient with it. don't expect to be loving on it and petting it right away. talk gently to it, let it get used to your smell.. let the squirrel lead the way.

Comparing the pictures of each to yours, you may have a shrew instead of a squirrel. I don't know much shrews, but according to this site they aren't in the Order rodentia, so I'm guessing they wouldn't have the two characteristic top and bottom incisors and the diastema (gap between front incisors and molars). Can you get a peek at the teeth without getting chewed up?

Both shrews look similar, but mine has a short snout. Wow, so they're not squirrel? But,, tell me. Is it possible to make it a tame pet? :o

rigle69,
I think PBluejay2 got it right. The animal looks like a tree shrew, and from your pictures you can see the "distinctive pale band at the shoulder" that the Ecology Asia website mentions, but as far as what to feed it, I don't know, except that in the wild they eat insects and lizards.
In case you want to check the teeth, here's a tree shew skull

and here's a squirrel:

Your pet is a beautiful animal. Good luck!

Where did you buy it? Did you just by it on the street? If you bought it at a pet store, couldn't they have told you what to feed it? Very cute, very small!! I hope someone can tell you what to feed it. min

if it's adult... and naturally a wild animal, and is feral.. I'd almost like to say "let it go" let it live life as it is craving to.. but it depends on so many variables. I'd never tell someone to do it with a hamster or bunny.. but this creature is not domestic?
