My cat, Clover had kittens about a week ago. She got out one night and had them outside.:/ I started looking for them first thing, and have been looking for them since, but she will not lead them to me for anything. Now I've noticed that all her milk has dried up. So I'm caught between three answers, either they where stillborn, they died for some reason, or she has just stopped producing milk. I know this is a far out question and this site isnt about kittens, but If the kittens are alive, I'de like to be able to help them, so is there some way that I can find out if theyr alive or dead? My cat can be a loner and spends most of the day away from the house anyway, even if she doesnt have kittens. So, can anyone help? I understand if my question is imposible. lol

can they get under the house? Just watch her from a distance. Eventually they will start following her.

we, live in a brick house, so theres not a way for her to get under, I think she had them in my neighbors yard? They said they'd watch out for them, but theyr yard is like a jungle, they don't keep it up. I'm just concerned because she's producing very little milk, maybe she just didnt have many? anyway, i don't want to intervene her from mothering, but do you think i need to?

Can you ask your neighbors to let you do a yard scan? You might feel better if you can take a look for yourself. Also, just wake up really early one morning and watch her from inside the house. Don't let her know you're watching. Then just see which direction she goes. At least then you may have a direction. Ultimately that direction may lead you to nothing since they may not have survived. But that's what I would try. Good luck! Keep us updated.

So, I took your advice, and woke up early this morning to watch her, good news is I'm pretty sure of there location now. Bad news is that its not the neighbors house i expected, it's the house next to it. They are kind of schetchy people, so I'll probably have to wait untill they leave for work to check. I'm almost positive they are alive now, so I'm glad:) I'll keep giving updates. Pray I find them today!:)

So as you can see, she is barely producing any milk, but she is producing some. I wanted to get a picture of her underside, but she wasn't having it.

From the side shot, she looks like she is producing fine! Would be great if you could get an under shot. The furless/matted nibbies usually give a clue as to how many babies, it could err lower though if two strong kittens are fighting over a rear teat! (like, 3 matted nibbies= 3 kittens) They love those end ones!
Queens don't hang down or fill up quite like dogs, it will not be obvious. Also, would be unusual for you to express more than a drop of milk.

I'm rooting for the new ones! Pretty mama...

My biggest concern is that you get all the litter and mom inside so your queen can be spayed asap.
(sorry, big spay/neuter advocate here!)

Btw, I am also "in the middle of nowhere."
If it's the same "middle of nowhere" I may be able to locate a free/low cost spay for you!
Feel free to PM me....

Yes, this is most likely the last litter i will let her have. It's a big mess when she goes into heat, and 10 million cats will hang around our house.

I was outside looking for clover's kittens, when i found this baby.

I don't think it's one of clover's, because her's are only 2 weeks old. But it looks like her in the face. she/he is very small and won't let me touch him, i can pet him if I cover my hands in sweater material. also I don't know if He needs kitten formula or what? Clover wants nothing to do with him. And I don't know what to do!

okay, the little baby will let me hold it now, and even is starting to purr, it is so very small, but the eyes are open as you can see. I'll pick him/her up some cat milk at the store today. & thanks! I've had clover for about 3 years now. I saw clover's mother (and thaught she was a stray) So I started to feed her. She was blind in one eye and looked exactly like clover does now. Then I met her owner and she let me know she was pregnant, and when she had the kittens, she asked me if I wanted one, so of caurse i said yes, so they gave the one that looked like the mother, wich is how I got clover.:)

Cute name, I once had i cat that I rescued from the pound named P.J, He was very old so I just kept the name, but I never found out what it ment. haha. Oh, and if kittens are dehydrated, do you give them pedialite like squirrels? This baby is very dehydrated. & I think its a girl!:)

So, I went to the store to get milk and pedialite, and when i came home someone had invaded my storage room and let the baby out, she is still on our front porch but won't come near me. Now she's under the car and keeps getting up inside the car, by the looks of her size and the pictures I've looked up, she seems to be only 3 weeks old. Clover Isn't even able to coax her out, She's terrified of everything.

She looks 4 weeks, still needs KMR! Also looks pretty darn dehydrated. I wonder if she smelled momma's milk and wanted to join the litter.
I hope you catch her again, try KMR and smelly canned food in a trap or carrier maybe if you put it at the back you can snap shut the door and bring her in a bathroom or something?

Updates, please!! Good luck!!!!!!

So, the kitten is in the hands of someone else now. I wanted someone to keep her who could bring her inside because she needed some seriouse care. She was very dehydrated and in need of a vet visit. Still in search of Clover's kittens, i'm hoping she'll bring them out soon, they'll be 3 weeks this tuesday. Isn't that about the age that they start to follow? I hope they aren't too wild.

I put a whole thing of shrimp In front of the car, I chose seafood so It would be a very noticable smell and iventually she came out and I picked her up, I had to be sneeky about it. I saw her today, and she looks very good. I wonder what happend to the mother? and If she had any litter mates. I think maybe someone dropped her off in the neighborhood, we have alot of that around here.

Wonderful to hear Momma brought her babies. I remember hand taming some feral kittens at 5 weeks. They were taken to the Humane Society... I keep telling myself they found warm loving homes.:grouphug

Good to hear the kittens are doing great.:thumbsup
