Losing fur on front paws??

Has anyone else had this happen to their fuzz butts??? Chumpy Mumps has been losing the hair on his front paws recently and I don't know if it's because of his tooth problem or if there's something else going on. Anyone got any ideas?? Here's the best pic of it that I have...

Was he possibly eating something sticky or something that would have dried on his hands? I have seen this happen many times with my squirrels that have been eating something that sticks to the fingers. What happens is that when the squirrel goes to clean its hands the fur comes off with it. I wouldn't worry about it unless you see any swelling, raw or scabby areas. Also as long as this is the only place that it is missing fur. If it has been eating something that sticks to the fur it might also be missing fur around the mouth.

Hope all is well with him. Keep an eye on it. I think it is nothing but keep a close eye just in case.

I've seen it before, but only once in a squirrel who was weaned. It happens often enough with squirrels on formula who get the formula on their paws and then lick it off excessively, causing hair loss. In either case I dont think there is anything to worry about. :)
