Is it okay for my squirrel to chew on Gala Apple seeds? Not sure she is actually eating them but maybe just tearing them up but could be ingesting some.

I try to avoid giving my squirrels any seeds except those intended for consumption. Some seeds have toxins in them, and I'm not willing to take the risk.

PB is right. I do believe that they contain cyanide in some form or another. Nothing that would harm us if swallowed, but our little fuzzbutts, who knows. I'd avoid them if possible.

Wow, I am glad I asked. I found a lot of stuff on the internet too about them being toxic to animals. Thanks for the information! No more for my girls.

As my dad explained it to me...cyanide is not expelled from the body, it absorbs and collects until it reaches a lethal amount.
Not really sure about apple seeds or sqs..:dono
I have heard that about apple seeds also Shanon...cyanide, I throw away the apple core.
I wouldn't.
