My squirrel likes to get on top of my doors and lick the dust. Is this an indication of something missing in her diet? Do non-releaseable squirrels need a salt block? Anyone have a weird squirrel like mine?

Squirrels sample all kind of things, and while we try to provide them with the best diet we know how, there's no telling what all they eat in the wild. I've seen them eat dirt (very common), chew up my plaster plant columns, catch butterflies in flight, sample the wood siding on my house--the list is endless. They're very "oral" critters! My house squirrel just tonight licked the palm of my hand clean after I had been working outside. I don't know if it was the dirt or the salt in my sweat or what, but he sure enjoyed himself (and I did too!). If he otherwise appears healthy and normal, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but you might thank him for the maid service :-)
