Do you have any pictures of your babies. I don't believe they would be weaned before 8-10 weeks. It is hard to get the little tykes to eat what's best for them when they're spoiled with fruit and nuts.:D You'll have to wean them of that habit. They're just like kids. No dessert until you've eaten your supper.:poke
What kind of fruit and nuts are they eating? They shouldn't have more than 2-3 nuts a day. They should be treats really.
How does their poop look? Color? solid?
Welcome to TSB, good luck with your babies.:wave123

Welcome Wolfman...and Thankyou for rescuing these babies! I know they are so cute, but they are also very fragile until you get them back on track! Gammas has given you good info, it is a must to have ESbilac...it is available at most large pet stores, TRACTOR SUPPLY, most feed stores! It can also be bought on line from Chris;s Squirrel Store, along with all supplies needed. However I vote you look locally as time is the essence here!
I did not read all, but do you have boys, girls and how many! We are going to need pics, we can help you post them!
Also poops and pee...we need details on color of poops...
no sunflower seeds ...they are too young for them. A few down the road will be ok, however, these babies still need formula. Accompanied by esbilac, some fruit is ok...but these fellers are going to need more still!
If you need help, we can find someone for you, however if you have built a cage...it sounds like you are willing to raise and release them. The cage being a big expense, is just a starter....we are here to help you and give all info we can! I can't wait to see your pics, I love baby sqs...nothing cuter!:thankyou :thankyou for saving them!
Can you keep other family pets away as well!

hi Wolfman -- welcome to TSB!
Gammas Baby, as usual, is right on the money: you absolutely MUST get these babies on Esbilac puppy formula TODAY. Baby squirrels will nurse from their mom until 10-12 weeks old, and yours are probably about six weeks old from what you're saying. Right now they are probably dehydrated even if their skin doesn't show it, because most of their diet should still be milk at this age.
Please understand that keeping baby squirrels alive is difficult. They are wildlife...they have not been molded and bred for generations to be convenient pets the way cats & dogs have. They can't live on one or two kinds of food -- they must have thousands of different kinds of enzymes and nutrients every day, which they normally get out in the wild. Makes having them as pets extremely complicated. I must tell you that getting them to someone who is experienced in raising squirrels is really the best thing to do.
First things first: let's get those babies on formula so they can grow strong! :D
Today you should be able to post. The how to about posting pictures are on the bottom of the forum. :Welcome :thankyou :thankyou For trying to save these little guys. Mommy squirrel will nurse then two months or a little longer. They will let you know when they out grow the need for formula. All healthy foods for them are also listed here. Gamma's Baby will make sure you have the
information. Squirrels are not real easy to raise and there is a lot that can happen with a bad diet.
That all said---:Welcome :Welcome To the Squirrel Board:grouphug :grouphug All animal lovers welcome.

I would say they are 6-7 weeks old, so they'll need formula for at least 3-4 weeks more in order for their bones to develop properly. :thumbsup
Wow! Beautiful cage, at least the part I could see.:thumbsup :thumbsup Make use you get the "puppy" formula Esbalic. Even some of the vets in town here told people "kitten" formula. They should be easier for you to care for since their eyes are open (about 4 weeks old for eyes). No towels in their cage, Feed formula with a 3 cc (ml) syringe. Most drug stores/ vets will give you free.

Love the cute faces!!!! And, yes, I add my voice to all the others that Esbilac is a must.....if you can't find it today, the next best thing for now would be Just Born (they carry it at WalMart) and you should be able to get small syringes at any pharmacy. If they don't like it at first, you can try adding the SMALLEST amount of honey or apple juice....it sometimes takes a couple times trying to feed as it's not quite like 'mom' :D Good luck and give those sweeties plenty of kisses and snuggles!

:Welcome Very cute little ones - so precious. How is their pee and poop? As everyone else has said you MUST get the esbilac for puppies for them immediately. This must to be fed by syringe NOT a bottle. I believe Gammas Mom has sent the proper feeding schedule, or if you have a weight for them we can figure out the proper amounts. Looks like they are old enough for the nutri-blocks as well.

Hello! Your baby squirrels are SO cute! You have definitely come to the right place to get all the info you need on raising squirrels. I wanted to offer some insight from my experience with a pet squirrel... Baby squirrels are very tame and loving but as they get older they might get aggressive and bite everyone but the main caregiver. (When adult squirrels bite it is really painful and will definitely draw blood.)
My squirrel Tails was sweet when he was a baby. He spent a lot of time out of the cage, playing with me and my husband. I took him everywhere-shopping, the bank, etc. He was very exposed to people and LOVED everyone. One day he just snapped and started attacking everyone but me and I had to keep him in his cage anytime people came over. He even turned against my husband. Now Tails spends most of his time inside his cage, occasionally coming out with me when I'm the only one home.
I LOVE Tails with ALL my heart, more than anything else in this world. With me, he is still that sweet loving baby who loves to play with his mommy and get cuddled. He rarely bites me unless I try to bathe him or take away something from his mouth. I love him and treasure every moment I have with him, but at the same time I regret for him that I did not give him the chance to be free. I have a huge cage and spoil him as much as possible but I don't think anything could compare to being free.
I hope you will read everything people on the board write about squirrels and are able to make an informed decision about whether or not you want to keep them for the rest of their lives. (They can live 15+ years in captivity and if you don't release them at the right time you may never be able to.) If you release them in your yard, I'm sure they would stick around and let you give them treats, etc. :)

Oh yes, beautiful babies, awesome cage. Esbilac is a must. I can usually get it here, but have had to substitute Mamalac once, as Canada seems to have a periodic Esbilac shortage. Weird isn't it? LOL

They can definitely have high quality rodent block to chew on, as well as dark green leafy veggies like kale, chickory or escarole. They should only have one nut per day at this age....I give almonds in the shell because they can practice opening hard shells and the almonds have calcium in them. No peanuts or sunflower seeds.
