Pistachio weighs about 230g's and being treated for kitten fur syndrome. I have given him 600mg of calcium Jan. 1st then 400mg's yeaterday and today. He is eating Kay Tee mix minus the nuts and seeds and 15-20cc's of Esblick three times a day. Should I keep giving 400mg's of Calcium for the rest of the week? How much after that? This is all new to me and I dont want to make ay mistakes.
Thanks so much,

Because he is taking the Esbilac, I would not continue dosing him 400g every day. The Esbilac will give him a good portion of the calcium he needs. Our nutrition expert, 4skwerlz, may feel free to contradict me here but I'm thinking you should now only give him the extra calcium every 2-3 days.

Island is right that we believe the Esbilac contains most of the calcium they need. Was Pistachio having any MBD symptoms, other than kitten fur syndrome? And how old is she? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with Pistachio's history. Cute name, by the way.

Im new to this. Should I have added this to my thread under Welcome? Sorry if I did i wrong. There are no signs of MBD. Not sure how old. We sure are enjoying him. Trying to get him furry and healthy.
Thanks,

I reread your original thread. You've only had him a couple of weeks, and he looks like a weanling. I still think he's an orphan that's had a rough time, with some malnutrition. However, his weight looks pretty good now. Why don't you just keep him on formula as long as he will stay on it. Let him have a couple of Kaytee Forti-blocks to nibble on but eliminate all treats, nuts, or other foods.
Also, make sure you're mixing and heating the formula properly. (No microwaving the formula.)
Give him a couple of weeks and see how his fur does.

I thought you would like to see Pistachio with more fur. His tail still has a way to go, but the rest of him looks better. He still loves his Esblic. He laps up 3T. thee times a day and would probably eat more. He started stealing Sience Diet Puppy food form a hole in the bag, (Wonder how that got there :D ) he would not even look at it before. So now he gets 2 blocks and 2 pieces of puppy food after each feeding. He was 1 lb. 1 oz. today. Should I make any changes to his diet?
Thank you for you kindness and advice.:thankyou . He would not of made it without you all.:bowdown

Pistachio is beautiful! Just wait until that tail comes in!:jump
Is he getting plenty of sunlight or full spectrum light from a lamp? I believe that is important for absorbing the calcium that he takes in.

His bright eyes and shiny -- although still thin -- fur really are a testament to your hard work, Pistachio's Grandma! His tail will fill in, don't worry. :thumbsup :)

Do you all think I should give him more Esblac or dry food to add weight. He loves food and would eat more if I gave it to him. I was worried he was a little chubby. What should he weigh?
Yes he has full spectrum light, thanks for asking.
