Broken Tail

I have two very playfull guy that I have been taking care of for over a month. My problem is one them was stepped on and a piece of his tail ( the tip) was broken completle off. I put som ointment on it, but don't know if there is anything else I need to do for him. Is there anything else I need to do???

I wouldn't worry too much about it actually. As long as the tip doesn't look red and infected it should heal fine on it's own. It sucks, but it's a fairly common occurrence. Their tails are designed to break if a predator attacks and gets a good hold on it.

Watch for infection (swelling, pain, redness, pus). Also make sure he's not chewing on it. Otherwise, it should heal fine by itself. Don't feel too bad, it happens a lot.

Several of my wilds are missing the tips of their tails, they on occasion show up with bloody tips and of course I freak but so far each of them have healed completely on their own.

I would like to thank everyone for the posts. I was freaking out over my little guy's broken tail. I have since calmed down. I will keep an eye on his tail and let my vet look at it Monday to make sure everything is on the up and up.
