View Full Version : Poor baby wants to climb
Bugsie

Bugsie has decided that he wants to climb on things like the couch. The only problem is with no use of his back legs he will fall. I had this problem when we first brought him in his log. He would climb up and then fall trying to climb back down, but I had padding all over the floor and now he has mastered it. The couch is a whole different story last night he was so cute, he was playing on the floor and I was ignoring him so he climbed up and got right in my face:poke but when he went to climb down he fell luckily I caught him before he hit the floor (hardwood). Of course the couch is not that high but with all the threads on head injuries it has got me worried. Poor baby wants to be a squirrel so bad and I don't know if I am being over protective:thinking

When my younger daughter started standing and walking we got large (2' square) foam mats that interlock and put them all over the floor. Maybe you could put some around the sofa. They have them at Lowe's, Home Depot, and even Target in the toy section.

Aw, poor Bugsie, you may be overprotective but it's better to be too protective than not protective enough! Bless you for helping this little baby!:grouphug :grouphug

I had a squirrel who couldn't use his back legs and there wasn't hardly a place he could go and climb. Some how he learned to compensate for no back legs:)
Hope your little Bugsie learns too. I had carpet so a fall didn't hurt him though he rarely fell. Putting mats down where he climbs sounds like a good idea too:thumbsup

Those interlocking mats are great! I cut them to fit the bottoms of my larger cages so that if anyone falls they don't get hurt. I also find they don't absorb moisture, so they cut down on odors. :thumbsup
