My cat found a baby squirrel yesterday. He didn't bite him, but the squirel's back legs seem to be deformed. They are kind of crossed and turned around backwards. We fed him and today he seems to be thriving. When he moves around he either pulls himself or rolls. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, he is very active and loves to try to crawl around in our clothing. He appears to be about 6-7 weeks old. Scared if I take him to the vet they will want to euthanize him. If he appeared to be in pain I wouldn't have a problem with it. I am really at a loss on what to do.

I know there is someone from TN on this board , perhaps they will take him and rehab him for you or we can try to help you find a rehabber. It could be a spinal injury which has cause paralysis or even a head injury. He may not act in pain if he has no feeling in the useless legs. Is he pooing and urinating ok?

You need a rehabber ASAP. Cat bites are deadly and need to be treated with antibiotics. What part of TN are you in?

My husband found a woman who rehabs in the next county over. We are taking him there after my husband gets off work. She is married to a vet. Which is good I suppose, I know nothing about rehab, except they try to get them back to the wild. What happens when they can't be returned? I am so afraid that with his back legs not working they will put him to sleep even though he is full of life. He has no cat bites.
