My 10 week old orphan gray squirrel sometimes makes a buzzing sound like a bubble bee. Anyone else?
It's very cute, but I'm curious to find out what it means.
Thanks!

One of my 10 week olds does the same thing- she will flick her tail up and down and make an odd buzzing sound.......I am not sure, but I think it may be the beginnings of the sound a squirrel will make when outside and they perceive a threat and will make that sound to warn others. However, it sounds very different than what I have been hearing from my baby. Maybe at 10 weeks that skill/sound just isn't quite developed yet???

Ain't it the truth?! My neighbors think I'm crazy cause I'm always out back on the screen porch, my OTT light glowing, squirrels running up and down my arms, legs, back and head, with practically everything but my rear in their cage, adding new limbs, yummy leaves and other tasty treats (or scooping out...poops and things....:jump)...and of course, this is all while I'm trying to make the pppprrddtttt sound:crazy :rotfl

My sweet precious Woody made that sound......but it was more like happy grunties. It was like a honk and a grunt.
I called him my honky tonk squirrel, he made that sound so much, it made me feel so loved!

you know...it IS kind of like a honk, but still with the pprrddtt sound. Wouldn't it be great to have a video of the different sounds and what they mean?? We could be squirrel whisperers:D

Penelope makes a grunting noise when she's happy. It's kind of like...hmm...think "baby pig", but more high pitched. I went out of town for a week once and had a friend look after her. When I came back and picked her up, she made that noise for an hour straight, no exaggeration! I've never seen a happier squirrel. Yes, it makes me feel loved too, and makes me love her all the more!
