Anyone have good outcomes with a particular food covering the tastes? I have 2 medications that need to be hidden and so far nothing..
Millie is not any kind of tame so forcing isn't to much of an option. Its last option... as needed.

I've heard that peanut butter with a little honey or molasses works.

hmmmm I didn't try adding the honey. She just started coming out of her box today but very cautiously. She licked a little bit of the diluted peanut butter then got water and back to bed.I will try the honey in it.

When I had the squirrel pox in the yard, I was using almond butter. The squirrels all loved it and it didn't matter what was in it....I actually would just put almond butter on a spoon with solid gold sea meal in it and they would just lick it clean.

I have never had a squirrel turn down a spiked watermellon slice.

Thank you all for the suggestions. She is too smart for her own good. She wouldn't take anything with the meds in it. The good news is I figured out a way to trick her.
I tease her with a walnut and when she sticks her muzzle out and opens her mouth through the bars to grab it... you guess it I shoot half the dose into her mouth. She gets pissed but it works. I do it again and after the second half she gets a small piece of walnut.
Its worked 4 times so far now, hopefully it will keep working =)

You could try injecting it into a grape. Just give her the grape and nothing else until she eats it.

I have tried a few different fruits but she won't take it and I can't really deprive her of her food right now because she already has some deficiencies and we are trying to supplement.

Does she eat broccoli? Maybe you could inject it into broccoli.

My guys will not eat ANYTHING but nuts. Prime almonds and hazelnuts. I hope I never have to worry about this. Fruits? "Bleah", they say. Veggies? They give me a look like "what, you think I'm a rabbit now?" Lately they won't even take a peanut if it is too stale!

I can get ivermectin into them on a walnut half, but that is only a teeny drop at a time.

That medicine must taste yicky! What is it?

She eats broccoli once in a blue moon. Prefers Zuccini over anything.
She is on TMS grape flavored suspension and metecam.

I am a bit confused. You don't give anything but nuts to your squirrels?

They are wild urban squirrels, and they eat whatever they please. I have no idea what they are eating, because I live by a huge backyard where there are many many many garbage cans that get full to overflowing before they are picked up twice a week. (Why we do not have more raccoons is the real mystery.) I know they have a lot of seeds from gardens and trees and some wild berry fruits. They also appear to be eating little bugs once in a while. I try out different foods on them, but they sniff at them. Right now I am looking at a plate of squash I put out. It is slowly drying up and withering from neglect. They won't even touch the acorns I collected for them. Naughtykins!

Got ya... I thought they were your squirrels in captivity or something :poke

My wild ones outside were very spoiled. The landlord used to feed them cheeze its and nuts. I used to throw out monkey biscuits and apples for them. They would line up on the garage roof waiting. They would run to whatever I threw then sniff it like what the heck is this?!!
After about an hour of realizing I wasn't throwing nuts they grabbed the biscuits and apples. I no longer throw them nuts at all unless its a special occasion lol. They learn to adjust.
Millie was a wild city park squirrel who was used to nuts and whatever people threw them as well but this is why she has the deficiency. At least your trying to help them =)
