Does anyone have information on this type of parasite, symtoms of it, and how to treat it?

Without looking it up I believe Albon.

Yep, albon is what you use to treat it :thumbsup . Symptoms are green runny poop I think, but don't have my book with me.

We use baycox for 3-5 days if we feel certain it's coccidia, albon if we think it might be some other parasite. The course of treatment with albon is much longer. My understanding is that other symptoms of coccidia include voluminous stool and lack of weight gain or even weight loss despite normal intake of food or formula.

Yep, that's Flagyl -- also a very good anti-parasitic. But I think if you are certain that it's coccidia, albon is the best way to go.

The vet prescribed 10 days of sulfa-trim for Henry for his coccidia. He had no symptoms whatsoever. :dono

Doodles is actually very very exact.

Quote from Doodles, "My understanding is that other symptoms of coccidia include voluminous stool and lack of weight gain or even weight loss despite normal intake of food or formula."

This is Rhubarb. She does have voluminous stool and her weight is steady, not gaining not losing. In case Coccidia isn't the eaxct diagnosis- is Albon a subtle antiobiotic that I can give her? And where do I get this? What is the dosage again?

Sorry if I'm a bit anxious, but now I see a little hope to help her and as soon as I can get on this and get her taken of, I will.

Any further instruction from here is very much welcomed. Thank you.

Thank you Gammas Baby. I will stop and get the prozyme and the L-Glutamine this afternoon. I very much appreciate this. Should I give this to her in addition to the Albon, or separately?

I cannot seem to locate a Petco or Petsmart for either the Prozyme or the L-Glutomaine. I'm so frustrated. And would anyone know the dosage for the Albon? And where I might be able to find it locally?

The Albon has to be prescribed by a vet.

For the Albon- is there any other way to get it? I'm in an illegal state and don't have a vet to prescribe it to me? Is there an herbalistic alternative?

Thanks Gammas Baby. I found the L-Glutomine at the Vitamin Shoppe. But every Petco I've called is out and won't get it in for a couple of weeks. I'm vacillating back and forth whether to order it. I'm impatient and want it now (unfortunately). Basically, I'm being emotional.

I got the prozyme (subsidiary) and the L-Glutamine. Rhubarb and Henry have both been on them since last night, but according the instructions you gave before- thank you again Gammas Baby. Rhubarb hasn't improved yet, but I'm hoping it's working.

I had a squirrel last year that had coccidia and I tried Albon for 3 days and it did not work. I used SMZ/TMP after that and it worked great. It is easy on their stomachs and very effective.

Albon has to be taken for 2-3 weeks.

My squirrel had a confirmed case of coccidia and was having hypoglycemic seizures because of his severe diarrhea. He needed something to work quickly. Within 3 days of Albon there should be some improvement, if not then the medication should be changed. Their are many strains of coccidia and they don't all respond to Albon. In my case SMZ/TMP worked much much better.
