i have about a 1 or 2 week old baby flyer that a friends son found on the sidewalk. i noticed today that his back legs are not moving as well as his front legs, when my boyfriend got home today he said that he had managed to get out of the container that we were keeping him in and was in the corner of the cage floor. i don't know if maybe he hurt himself or if they are just weak because of his age and i never noticed i've only had him 2 days what should i do he's eating ok and going to the bathroom except this last time he wasn't real hungry and his poop was kind of tarry and he didn't pee what should i do?

You can test to see if he has feelings in the legs by pinching his toes to see if he reacts. If not he could have a serious spinal injury.
There are several rehabbers in your area I think. You might want to contact one. Here is the site as to where to find one.http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23 There are also several folks here on the board who may live near you.
Keep us posted:) :Welcome

:wave123 and :Welcome

How's the baby this morning? Any change?

I sent PMs to two of our rehabbers in your area (Winter Haven and Haines City) to see if they could help you.

I am in haines city not too far and would glad to look at the baby and evaluate it. I have meds and vet access if that is warranted.
She can call my cell number which I think squerly has...I'll try to pm it as well

Tori now has the baby and is taking care of him!

tat2ed, you made a very good decision bringing him to Tori. :bowdown I'm sure it was hard to leave him :Love_Icon , but the very best thing is for him to get the special care he needs right now. :grouphug

i know, i just hope he pulls through. he was fine this morning when i woke up and then when i got home from work he was just clicking and breathing hard. i tried my best now all i can do is hope he makes it. I'm very thankful that tori could take him. I've become quite attached to the little guy in 3 days. :(

Oh, yeah --- it takes about about a nanosecond for them to crawl straight into your heart! :Love_Icon For tiny babies, though, if they get sick they can go downhill quite rapidly -- you made a very good decision going tonight rather than waiting til morning. He's in good hands. :grouphug

I am sooo sorry to post this but this darling little baby did not make it. :sad
Don't be sad you guys did the best you could and he didn't suffer....I suspect he had pneumonia and these little guys are very delicate. :(

I'm so sorry tat2ed ... and Tori. RIP little baby boy. :Love_Icon

Tat2ed, it's hard to keep in mind with such a sad outcome, but I hope you are able to take some comfort in knowing that you rescued him from the risk of predators or starvation and gave him a safe and loving place for his last days.

Tori, thank you for trying to save him. We know that it isn't always possible.
