So tonight i was feeding my little guy and all of a sudden i saw a tinge of blood on the nipple,i immediatly looked at his mouth,it looks like his bottom gum split or something a little and his two bottom teeth are now seperated and he can move them around with his tongue. I do not know what happen and now i don't know how a squirrel's teeth work and what might happen in this case. does anyone have any advice?? :dono

This is actually normal........I see it in a few that nurse vigorously...I think they rub their claw or nail on the side of their mouth so hard it makes the nipple bloody, I have seen it so many times over the last 6 years I have been rehabbing. I remember my first year I freaked out! But its ok, wipe down his mouth well and wipe out as much blood as you can, I really think its from the constant rubbing...its hard to tell usually.
the teeth as you describe sound normal also, so dont panic.

First .... don't panic. Deep breath. :)
I see that squirrelfairy posted from extensive experience, so that should make it much less scary! Hopefully, that's all it is. But keep an eye on it and let us know if there is any change or it seems to get worse -- or is really actively bleeding (as opposed to just "a little bloody"). It sounds like the kind of thing that is very scary to see, but maybe not abnormal at all.

I too have had a number of squirrels with bloody gums. It seems to happen when their teeth are coming in (4-7 weeks old).

no it is not actively bleeding i was just worried about his teeth moving apart and him being able to move them with his tongue, they were stuck together tight.

angelcat I had this same situation with one of mine for a couple of days last week. At one point I thought he'd truly injured himself there was so much blood, but after cleaning & examining him he was fine. It stopped and never started again, so don't worry. This is yet another one of those ways that our squirrel patients try our patience :D.
