I posted on here a while back when I was considering wether or not to buy or build a cage. I just wanted to let everyone know I found one! I ordered it today online. Here is the link in case anyone else is looking for a cage: (btw, I can't remember who sent me this link but thanks!)

I am actually buying two of the Majestic (the bottom cage on the webpage) cages and I'm going to take off one side of each and put them together to give Tails a cage that is 60/30/60. It will be exactly three times the size in volume of his current cage. I think he will be very happy with it. Plus, it is convienient because if I ever need to downsize for any reason I can break them back apart and have two separate cages.
I decided not to build because we are so busy that I know we would keep putting it off, probably indefinitely knowing us. :dono I also like that the cages have the bottom pan which will make cleaning much easier.

I looked at a lot of online cage companies/custom cages etc. and they had the biggest cages with the best prices.
Plus now I'll feel better about Tails being in a cage since it will be so big. I think he will be happy. He loves to play so I'm already thinking of what I'm going to put in his cage. :D
Oh, also... His light will not shine on the entire cage. Does he have to be IN the light all day? Or will just being in the light part of the day work?
And finally... Tails chews on hard plastic so I have always kept anything plastic away from him. But I was wondering if it is bad for squirrels or would it be okay to give him hard plastic in his cage, since he doesn't actually "eat" it?

Can you use his old cage outside for a sunning cage:D ....the more REAL sunlight the better. I put chipper out at least 2 hours a day for the fresh air and natural light http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_6_1v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZJxdm128MHUS) Just make sure if you do he has a nest box in it so he can feel secure.

I'm going to put it outside but most likely on my screened-in porch. I did have a smaller cage for him that I hung in a tree with a rope and it kept getting spiders in it. I would clean it one day and spiders would infest it again the next. (They are brown widows-poisonous.)
I spray spider killer around my porch and it's screened in so they normally don't get in. Also, I wouldn't want to risk a snake getting to him because I have seen two snakes in my yard and that cage is not snake-proof.
Maybe sometimes I'll move his cage out in the sun if I have time to *watch* him.

If Tails gets the lighting for most of the day, it's ok. A lot of times, too, the rays will reflect off of objects, and will still help him, even if he isn't directly under it. Of course, though, it's a matter of the more, the better. :thumbsup I know Baby isn't under her light every waking moment. :D
I, personally, don't see a problem with giving him hard plastic to chew on. I give Baby plastic water bottles and milk jugs to play with. She loves to rip them to shreds and then walk away. :jump
Thanks! I was worried about him possibly swallowing plastic shreads when he chews on it. If plastic is not "harmful" I could find SOOO much more fun stuff to fill his new cage with. (I like building him ramps, tunnels, boxes, etc.) I like to change it up so he isn't bored.
